Sorry dude. I learned Friday that instead of a raise this year, I'm taking a 10% pay cut. There are a lot on this board who have lost their jobs, so I'm thankful I still have one.

I have a few friends that work at Circuit City (I used to) and they just laid off a TON of peeps. Get this, they made commission, CC took anyone who made $17+/hr and fired them! Said they could not afford to keep them. Then offered various hourly rates around $16/hr to the rest. My roommate was closest to cut off, but got offered the highest paying position in the store, now when they cut back more, he is the first out, doh. Got friends in Management there too, they are getting worked over in less then 2 months. It seems to be getting rough out there, want job security? I work as an Ops. Manager at a Cemetery, my job is guaranteed Funeral Homes are just as about as secure if they are established. Can be depressing at times, but really it is something we all have to deal with throughout life. And if your in the right area, you can make real buko bucks.

some do, but if you were to get a job there now you will start out at $8 and can only go up to $12. If you have a Costco in your area that's the place to get a job. I started out at $8 when I started there and now almost 5yrs later I make $15.50 an hour(plus a $2000 bonus every 6 months) and full benifits and I'm still only part time. Anyway, sorry to hear about your job man. Down with Wolly World

Aye that is correct I dream of S, newbies cant get the better wages and have a lower cap for the top. Was even better when I worked there selling computers, first year I NEVER worked more then 25 hours a week, and almost pulled in 25k, it was great. The profit margin on computers went to hell, so then the spif followed. Went full time, then they overstaffed the sales floor and spread the possible sales thin, so I left for my current job, where I get a $300/month car allowance (just about pays for the S, which I thinks you could do w/your 2k bonus I dream of S if finances allow for it) and seeing that my average $/hr was usually around $18/hr I'm really glad I left. I almost went back to CC about a month ago too, would be about same $ with ALOT less responsibility, and most likely would have got caned, glad I stayed at current job

Yep, I used to work there last year, side by side with another parttime job. You won't make that on average, unless you're pretty experienced, and yes, there are some who rack in that much, fulltime. I quit that place after I took some morning classes and they told me to quit my other job.

Honestly, I don't think that was a good move on Circuit City's part...cutting pay, because in the long run, if not short, that'll cut your good employees too.

Just between us...those warranties you buy with your computers, tv's, or what not...they make the salesguy a hell of a lot of money . Fortunately, they'll actually honor their word, unlike a lot of car warranties.
