Got laid off today...
Luft46, They used to be commission based w/subsidy. This meaning if you did not sell enough in the first half of the month, they would subsidies your pay to 7.73/hr. Lets say u only sold enough to make 5.73/hr. They will pay u 2.00/per hour u worked to guarantee 7.73. Now lets say the 2nd half of the month u sell enough to make 9.73/hr. Remember that 2.00/hr that they subsidized in the first half of the month, u will now pay them that back, and u get 7.73/hr. But when I worked there I was never close to subsidy, they had some peeps that would never get off it. And now those are the peeps w/jobs, WTF IMO. Best day to work on commission, day after thanks giving, the last year I worked there I pulled in $550
My personal goal when I worked there was to make $120+ per day, was easy when spifs were high. And yes I sold a schload of extended warranties on computers, and big screens, don't buy it on anything else, maybe Digi cam. The warranty paid a strait %15 of volume, sell a couple of $300-$500 warranty, and go sit in the back the rest of day
Now u can get hired in at around $8/hr, w/$12/hr cap, you prob can make better money working at sprint or something. Get into sprint early, train in management, you can advance quick up the sprint ladder, and from what I hear can make some decent $ also. And considering I'm yet to see a sprint manager over the age of 29, they seem to like to hire younger peeps. Worst 1/2 month pay check from CC ever was 541.11, best 1/2 month pay check 3200ish, was feast or famen, but with me it was mostly Feast

I worked at Circuit City for 4 years, all the top guys pretty much making over 19 got let go. People that did their job and made money got let go. People that sucked and avg. $15 an hour kept their job. I bought my house 6 mo. ago, and my 01 S 4 months ago. CC SUCKS ASS. got 1 week pay for every year I worked there, and my avg. hourly based on what I made in a year. NOW 3 people have quit and more to come. Circuit is going down . Now that they are hourly , no one gives a crap about sellin' I feel for you guys
My sympathies S2KruZin. I was laid off by a telecom in 2000, went to computer school in 2001 (nearly $10,000 out of my pocket) and I still don't have a job. Not to turn this into politics, but the way the country is going, I don't expect to see any surge in hiring anytime soon, the stock market drops every day that we move closer to war. Oops so much for avoiding politics, sorry if I just planted the seeds that get this thread deleted! My bad. Anyone in the North Jersey area who wants to hire a Network Engineer? Please?
