got pulled over and ticketed today
Reminds me of when I lived in NYC and a guy in front of me tapped his brakes at me. I was technically tailgating a bit but I was not on his bumper by any means. Anyway, when he tapped them I had just glanced at my radio and when I looked up I saw his tail lights. I hit my brakes and watched him not brake...I got a little ticked and put my left hand out the window and flipped him off. He zipped into the lane to the right and slowed down. That's when I saw the searchlight on his side view mirror and realized it was a unmarked car!! First white unmarked car I ever saw. Oh man. I slowed down. He slowed down. I slowed down more. He slowed down more. Then he yelled out at me, "F**K ME?? F**K YOU!! PULL IT OVER!!" He gave me two tickets. One for tailgating. Mmm...OK, but then one for doing 74 in a 50 (ok it was years ago!). If I was doing 74 I would have pushed him off the road, but at the time, 25 over the speed limit would be mandatory court, so he made it 24 over, and left me with only 1 point left on my license. Worst part: When he pulled away from the shoulder, he spun his wheels and showered me with dirt and pebbles. A real pro.

I'm I reading this story right by thinking you were pulling this stunt to the suv behind you which turned out to be a cop?.

yup. actually i exagerated a lil by saying i hit the brakes so hard i almost line locked them it was more of quick hard hit to make the person in back thinking that i was slamming on my brakes

I hope that wasn't to harsh
Sorry, I dont agree with anyone saying he was wrong. The cop should have wound up in a ditch, hit a tree, and eat the steering wheel. Tailgating is wrong. Tailgating an s2000 with a 2.5 ton SUV is wrong. Tailgating someone AFTER THEY SWITCH A LANE is wrong. The cop put his life in danger by being so close. He might have had to slam his breaks and the cop would have nailed him. In NJ, deer run out all the time, and you never know when youll need to slam your brakes, sh!t, ive done it before. So anyway, had there been a deer or something, the s2000 would have been in deep trouble, and for what reason??? Because the person in the SUV *needs* to be on his a$$??? Some of you are in for a really rude awakening one day.

100% not true at all.....if you rear-end someone who deliberately slammed on their brakes hard for no reason. EVERY time it will be the person who slammed on their brakes fault....every time. There are a bunch of Road Rage laws on the books for explicitly these cases.....
Think about what you are saying people....are you listening to yourselves????
I can see it now, in court.....
"Your honor the car in front of me slammed his brakes and I couldnt stop in time!"
--"Yea, but I thought I saw a racoon run accross the road, and got nervous"
There is nothing you can say in court, I dont care if its a cop or the president, if you hit someone from the back, there is NOTHING you can say to win the case.

So If I am driving in front of you and decide to do something stupid like lock up my brakes and you rearend me...then you are 100% at fault?

Yes in NY/NJ, I would be 137.566788% at fault, and there is nothing I can say to make it otherwise.
