Good for you!
I myself do not understand people's obsession with the V8 Cavalier woops I mean Corvette. Sure it is fast but damn man it is built cheap, steering and shifter subpar, reliability in question, loses value too fast, and the worst thing it is as common on the road as a Corolla and it looks as big as a freakin full size cop car .
After my S was paid for I started driving a few other cars as a way to look for what I want next as not to replace the S but something to complement it and was shocked at how much some of my test drives absolutely disappointed me. Most cars felt completely disconnected compared to the S . Faster yes . More fun- NO! However after a drive in a late model 911 I have found what I have been looking for . The steering, braking, handling, and the sound of the flat 6 is absolutely intoxicating . I read a lot of owners reviews on edmunds.com and one that kinda of sums up my feelings on the 911- "You have dreamed for years about driving one and then your day comes and you find out that the Drive was better than the Dream". Exactly!!!!
Did the same thing.
Sold my 01 for a 2002 Vette Roadster and now I am back in an 05S.
It's hard to explain but the Honda is a sports car and the Vette just isn't. My only wish is that the S looked as good as the Vette but then again that is just my opinion.
Looked at a 911 also but, sorry, 'dreamed about one for years and was very disappointed'.
In fact would have taken the Vette over the Porsche any day of the week. More powerful and better optioned.
Just can't seem to get my head around a car that hasn't had a restyle in what? Forever...
And don't tell me how it was made perfect from the get go. Guess I am just more difficult to brainwash.

Great writeup. Gave me that warm feeling inside. Probably the only other car I would ever enjoy over the S, is an NSX. This is of course limiting myself to what I can probably afford. Thanks for sharing.

See you are another brainwashed by the Vette . Me I do not get it . To me the 63-67 Stingray was the perfect Corvette. It's styling is still superior to the new ones! After that I could care less how fast it is . It is too big, ugly, and still a Chevy. If I wanted one it would sure be a Stingray!
Hey man if you do not believe me then check out the new Automobile All Stars issue . Your Vette makes the cut but in the end while driving the 911 they say "There is no doubt that this(911) is the best car here".

If I was brainwashed, would I not still own it?

I was just giving you a shot because all I ever read from you is how terrible the Vette is.

I just wanted to bring it to your attention there are all kinds of opinions and it gets kind of boring hearing the same one over and over again from the same people. We understand you don't like the Vette's. No need to keep spouting it. Move on. You see...what you are giving is nothing more than your opinion.

On the same note I find it interesting you like the 63-67 Vette.
Based on the non evolving styling of the 911, is it possible there may be a chance you're stuck in the past.

I know how you feel about missing your first S2000. I just bought my second a few weeks ago but I just couldn't part with my Viper . . . so I kept them both!

to the OP, did you have any reservations about buying used?

I'm new to the S2K, and part of me can't justify the premium price for an 09.

I've asked for advice, but I don't think my thread is as popular as this one
