Signed the papers at 6:00PM and not 3 hours later was driving downtown. I'm in the far right lane, with blinker on, ready to make right at approaching intersection when the freak'n mini-van in the lane to my left starts to just cut for the turn!! Missed the horn (wasn't used to the location yet) but she got a really good look at my middle finger!! Scared the bejeezus outa me!

This is where some sir horns come in handy. It might not stop them pulling out (or then again it might if you give them a toot as approaching) but it sure will exact some retribution.

I think you almost jinxed me. I read this post right before leaving for work today, and on the way this lady in a large Chevy p/u pulled out from a side street to turn left right infront of me. Luckily I was keeping an eye on her and whe I laid on the horn and flashed the lights, she jumped like she hadnt even seen me. A first for me...

I didn't buy a silver precisely because silver cars do not stand out, and I want to it's my sad, weak personality Look down a file of cars coming the other way and you'll see what I mean.

Some people do not want to stand out, that's cool too - each to their own right?

From a safety standpoint, I come from the UK originally, which I think qualifies me to comment with some authority. The UK is a place that makes Washington seem like Arizona - they have just had 130 odd days consecutive rain (and still counting). The sort of rain they talk about in bibles. It is also a place where they drive MUCH faster than just about anywhere in the US. I can confirm that silver cars doing 90MPH in the rain are TOTALLY invisible.

In fact rumor has it that the designer of the first stealth aircraft was actually driving a silver Lotus down the M6 at 120MPH in the rush hour when the idea struck him. Unfortunately he then struck a lamp post. Luckily, just before he expired he managed to mumble the concept over to his dear wife who went on to make millions, before vanshing into total obscurity, presumably applying the same technology to herself. Either that or she bought a gray coat, some silver jewelry, and stood in the middle of the M6 at rush hour.

It's been a long day

plus driving with tose HID's on looks sooooo cool! When I bought my car (second hand), I had a meeting with the previous owner in a street, unsure about purchasing the stook at the time, and he came up to me with the lights on in broad daylight, and I knew straightaway that I was gonna buy his car, it was just like getting a glance from a girl in a crowded bar...

Also, this grey thing... well, I'm considering painting my 92 civic hatchback in MATT GREY, with black rims of course, I just love the stealthy aspect of matt on metallic objects. Do you have "rat bikes" in the us? Usually 70's japanese or german motorbikes painted all matt black, with pieces of plastic, bones, glued to the bike, and painted in black also.

Eric, Eric, Eric,......
Not to belittle you in front of the entire S2K community but your car is Silverstone Metallic. The finest color available today (and Honda agrees). The "reds" who have chimed in here have seen your post as an opening as they are going down slowly. You see Honda had to actually reformulate the paint for red because it was, and still is, ugly. The red cars are "new" formula red. Almost as ugly as old formula red. I would suggest that those who cut you off are the same ones that key and burn holes in tops (i.e. the jealous ones). We don't have that problem here in Utah. We just have the guys that stop and stare. They wave us past to check all angles of a vehicle rarely seen here in God's country.

Thanks for all of the feedback gang! It looks like I'll run with the lights on and get my brain back in ultra defensive "motorcycle mode" (actually, a good habit in any car).

One of my favorite quotes from someone a lot wiser than me... "The safest car is the one well driven".

ditto on the comments about running with lights on - glad I read this thread. I should be picking up my silver/red stook this week.

I used to own an '00 M Roadster, Imola Red (a great red IMHO) and I swear it seemed like ppl pulled in front of me less - until, of course I was run off the road and totalled the car 3 weeks ago.

I think it's partly being spooked by the accident and feeling I need to keep a low profile that I want an "invisible" color, but I love that silverstone.

To clear up the fire engine thing...they are actually more green than yellow (should be, anyway). Our eyes are more sensitive to green wavelengths, so if you wanna be seen in a crowd, wear green.
