Not only does Coastal Metals produce a higher quality product, but they will do custom work also. I recently spoke with David about mounting my front license plate on one of his grills. I packaged up my plate, sent it to him, and within just a few days had my new grill with license plate trimmed and mounted on it - ready to install. Check out the pic:
Yes, I know that there might be airflow problems, but I'm not concerned about it for the winter, and will monitor it closely during the summer. If problems arise, David made it easy enough to simply remove the plate.
Bottom line - Coastal Metals is the only way to go!
Excellent feedback! Thanks everyone for the information. I had suspected that the Coastal Metals product was good and based on the feedback, my purchase will most certainly be Coastal Metals.
Seems that you have already reached the right conclusion. I have the Coastal Metals grill. 5 minutes in install is about right.
I also bought the inlet covers, which I like because they then match the look of the grill, even though they are still just decorative. They just stick on. One did come off, but it was replaced no charge.
Not only good stuff, but great after-sale service.
The look between the two options is different. Personally, I don't like the drilled/perforated metal look - irrespective of color. Take a look in the grilles of a Ferrari F50.
I intend to run a lot of events in hot weather and felt that the Coastal Metals product would not provide adequate airflow. I'm ordering the Grillcraft version, which appears to have a more porous construction, and will comment when I receive it.

I don't have the data to back this up - but I would tend to agree given what I remember of my thermodynamics and fluid dynamics class.
