Default hard to shift lst/2nd/3rd

Anyone know a trick to shift through the first three gears w/o the thing trying to kick the shifter back into your hand? I've tried letting out the clutch a second time between gears for a second, and it works fine, but that takes as long as just waiting for the shifter to find it's way into place. I'm talking about up shifting. Down shifting doesn't seem to be a problem. How can you get the 0-60 deal if you have to wait a full second to get the car from lst to second? From third on up, all seems normal. Have I bought a lemon? All help here is welcome...I don't know anyone with a Stook but me. Thanks.

by the number of your posts, i am guessing your car is new... if that is the case, maybe your tranny is still tight?
if not, most likely a reason to take the car to your dealer. my gears are all consistently tight after a year of driving, but i can shift (just cant speed shift, as syncros seem to continue to be tight).

I agree. My tranny took a while to break in too. It is still a bit notchy, but I am working on that.

My advice is to not force it. Let it break in slowly and you will feel it getting smoother.

Thanks guys. I was kinda worried but now if it's just a break in thing that's fine. Have 1,800 miles on it, seven weeks old so still learning. Thanks again.

If it's still notchy after putting on more miles, you might want to change the transmission fluid out. Many people have done that and have reported mcuh smoother shifts.

My transmission got smoother after about 3500 miles too, but now around 4000 when it's warm, it takes a lot more effort to shift from 1-2. Anyone else have this problem?
