you guys are right, another $3000 invested but could easily remove by breaking one window.....

I never cared about the top down thing because i enjoy the driving way more than wind.

how sad our S has been the target for some punks for 10 yrs!!!

Just like a house....you can deadbolt the front door, the thief will come through a window.

You can't stop a thief if they want it bad enough.

short answer......NO. putting a HT on a car for security just gives the thieves something else to steal.....

I am also gonna say no. A thief of our seats knows what they are after, and it's just as easy to pop a window or pull a window out of its frame and unlock a door as it is to slash a top...and if they have a minute to spare, they don't care about the noise a window makes...even an alarm is pointless if they have the minute they need.

i think a hardtop does add another sense of security, but wont make the S bulletproof. its better then only a softtop, since the thief could just slash that and be on his way.

bingo.

ziggy55, u realize that the window can be just pried out a bit and bam your in the car. or even easier just smash the window and bam, your in the car. its 6 of 1 or half dozen of the other having a hardtop makes your car even more desirable to break into. so it does the exact opposite of what your trying to accomplish.

want theft deterent? park in a garage at night.

Just one more high dollar item to steal.

A HT will not secure your car any better than a ST, but it can get stolen.
