Top Down is awesome, I did it routinely before I took mine out because of the damage.

BUT..

I heart my hardtop. Once you put it on, you will understand . Blind spot eradicated, rear visibility greatly improved, much much more headroom, and it's just sexy as hell period. Honda should have offered a coupe.

Better decide soon, the supply of new hardtops is about exhausted, especially in certain colors. I like both looks myself, and it is easy to change from one to the other.

I would say to buy an s2000 with out a hardtop for now and then when you decide that you want one for sure then purchase a used one from someone on the board. Or if you can find an S that already has one on there, jump on that. I wish I would have waited to buy one that already had one installed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Honda have to keep parts for atleast 10 years after discontinuing it?

I dunno about all that but when I was in the market for a new hardtop 2 years ago it was almost impossible to find then. I can only imagine how hard it is now. Luckily i got mine from a member.

Had a hardtop for a while and sold it to someone whos top was slashed.

Its overated and pointless knowing you're driving around with 2500-3K sitting over your head. Top down FTW.

MANY downsides to the HARD TOP.
Reasons i dislike the hard top:
-needs 2 person to remove it.
-needs 2 person to put it on.
-CANT go convertible in a middle of a trip.
-Once you have it on you have to stick with it until you go back home.

get a garage hitch similar to what they have to store bicycles... takes one person to put it on, take it off
if you in the middle of the trip (for example, the dragon), you can leave the top in your room... i've seen this done many times... me included

not saying i don't disagree with your statements.... just saying that there ARE options

Lets be fair and also talk about the...
MANY benefits to the HARD TOP.
Reasons I like my hard top:
-reduces road noise
-no flapping back window (at higher speeds)
-smaller blind spots than with the soft top (of course no blind spots with top down)
-music sounds much better
-prolongs the life of the soft top since it's not exposed to the elements as much
Don't get me wrong, I love me some top down time, but if you have the extra $$, get a hard top. I mainly use mine in the winter months. Just make sure you have somewhere safe to stash it when you remove it.
