Default hardtop installation help...

I just got my '05 S2K and bought a used hardtop about a month ago. The top is in the bodyshop and it's all ready to be installed. My question is how to install it. It came with the latches and defroster wiring etc., but where do the rear latches catch on to? do i need to buy the catchers because i really can't afford buying a whole new hardware kit when i have everything else. any help is appreciated! thanks

Im not sure on the terminiology but you need the thing (catches I'm guessing) that the hardtop mounts into. Then once mounted in, you latch the rears. So sorry to say if you dont have that then ya you need to buy the kit.

^thanks for the help. i don't get it though...i was checking out hardtopguys website and when you click on the year of the car, it says the kit is needed for only 2000-2001 models. does that mean the catchers are pre-installed now on the newer models? otherwise I have to spend $500 for just those 2 catchers??

Therres different kits for different years and I think it's mainly due to the defroster.

I'm not sure why it's not listed on his site but you will need Kit 'C'

You have to get the kit and it cost $ 150.00. The reason the site says no kit required in the later models is because when you order a top from Honda, the kit comes inside the box with the top.

Try that link. It gives step by step instructions (you need adobe acrobat reader to see it). It also has a list of everything that you need to install it on an 04+ model.

I'm sure he has the kits. You might have to call him up to order it separate from the top. If he's out, then try HandAaccessories.com

As far as the $3K price
I think the dealer was trying to sell you the whole top for that price. They must have not read the item description correctly in the inventory. The dealer is not the place to get these parts anyway though.
