Default Hardtop+A LOT OF RAIN=Leaks

hey all,

Just got the hard top put on, looks awesome. But here in So California we have been hit with 5 days of no stop Hard never ending rain. So now the top leaks! Its right at the front edge, where top meets the front window. There is a rubber gasket that meets the window molding/weather stripping. When I pull down, the strip that runs inside form the front of the window to the back, I can pour out the water. This seems so be where it is collecting. Damn It

I have a small periodic leak in almost the same location (except I don't have a hardtop). I also noticed it in our recent heavy rainstorm. I haven't checked to see where the water is collecting, though. I ordered some Shin-Etsu grease and am going to apply it to that gasket area to see if it'll help.

Sorry I cannot comment on the hardtop, but the Shin-Etsu will help greatly with leakage and the softop.

Good luck!

Hmm...I'll have to check mine. I've been in the same LA storms.

There is an adjustment procedure in the hardtop installation instructions and in the shop manual to adust the hard top seals for proper fit. If you had it professionally installed take it back for adjustment, otherwise check the directions or a shop manual.

I am in central california with a OEM top and it seals ok.

yeah its going back to the shop! I will suggest they look at the the shop manual. It's sad I have to be the one that is giving them suggestions. I d think they'ed be a little better trained. But wait what I am thinking its honda service dept. Sadly my luck has not been all that good with either Honda or Acura service. We shall see.

thanks.
