Default Hardtop w/order or after order?

Are there any adv/disadv. of getting the hardtop with the car or ordering it after the fact?

Thx, Regards, Mark

If you order it with the car, the option is financed along with the car. Otherwise, You'll have to bone out $2700 up front to get the top plus the install fee, unless you do it yourself. You can negotiate for the hardtop with the car. Perhaps get a discount and free install. It depends on how good of a negotiator you are.

Good point. Are there any actual differences though, if you order it with the car? Do they, for instance, paint it with the rest of the car to insure a perfect match? Do they remove anything from the car?? -- ie. the softtop if still operational, correct? If the fectory installs the hardtop, is it done any differently than a dealer?? (better?)

Thx, Mark

The top comes prepainted, and you get a badge on the inside with your vin number. I think it takes like a month to get that badge. The top would be a dealer installed option if you chose to negotiate for that. I don't think you get the car with the hard top on from the factory. I could be wrong.

Got my hardtop afterwards and the paint match is exact. I have had numerous comments about how Honda is so good at controlling the paint process to produce color uniformity.

Just get it when you're buying the car ... After all, you can always try to negotiate through a better deal. I got mine together with the car for an extra of USD$2,585.00 in Japan.

BUY IT AFTER:
I've had my S2000 for 20 months. I just received my hardtop. The paint color match is perfect. Took only 20 days to receive after placing order.

BUY IT WITH:
But if you buy it at the same time as the car purchase the top will be covered by any extended warranty you get.
