most of the "older" members have been here a while and have RESPECT for one another -
I started this topic and i'm glad to see that it has gotten absolutely no where. I'm sure that alot of people like to post sayings just to get others riled up, but that was not my intentions.

I shared my story to let you guys know about what happened because i thought it was immature... but funny. NOT to try to impress anyone. Most of us don't like cops like myself, but i do respect them and what they do in the community. I am immature at times and deffinatley a smart ass, and shouldn't have been smart ass to the cop... but i'm good at reading people and i read this guy before he even made it to my door. I never get the chance to take up for myself when i get pulled over and have been picked on lot in the past by other police officers. Finally got my chance and took full advantage of it.

I didn't mean for this to get out control and apologize for disrespecting anyone. I know must of the people on this site "that have significants" are older and i didn't mean to disrespect them by any means. I joined as a member so i could get to know people and get information about what i love the most... my car.
I didn't want it to start off this way so as stated before.. i apologize.
I didn't mean to personally attack anyone... i just don't like to be cursed at!
Once again ... i apologize.

Now lets please move to another thread cause this one sux!

Eh, I don't feel sorry for the poster, but while the cop may or may not have the right to issue a ticket for acclelerating quickly (but not barking the tires), it's obvious that his attention was drawn more easliy considering the car and the exhaust. A quiet minivan would not have drawn his attention doing the same thing- Big deal, such is life, deal with it..... But that doesn't make it right.

Of course, the poster didn't have to haul ass up to the speed limit.. but it's fun, and many people do it all the time, and I don't think it's always a danger.

I'm suprised the cop didn't use exhibition of speed law to give a ticket. I had an exibition of speed ticket 8 years ago for accelerating too quickly from a stoplight even though no one was around.

I accelerated to 40 in a 55 zone before I saw the cop and let off so I never came close to exceeding the speed limit and had no tire chirp, which is why I didn't think I deserved it THAT time. Took it to court and the judge told me that's what happens to kids who think they drive race cars .

I was mad at the time, but after years gone by I know I deserved it.

Hi SlideWayz,

I'm afraid I'm responsible for a lot of the side tracking. Sorry about that but it does happen sometimes. I'm just glad you came out of it Ok and I'd still like to see what your face looked like when you found youself between those road markers.

Drive Safe,

Depends on the situation. If it's snowing and icy, you might well be driving recklessly if you're driving at the speed limit. Even in perfect weather, if you've got a cell phone in one hand and you're writing a message down with the other while ignoring the traffic, that's pretty reckless.

In the original poster's situation, though, given the policeman was already upset at him but still didn't give him a ticket, it's pretty clear the policeman knew he wasn't actually driving recklessly.

To those of you on this thread/board who have a general disdain towards law enforcement:

Do you realize that the attitude you have towards cops most likely influences the treatment you receive when being pulled over? If you GIVE the officer a reason to treat you like a child, he'll treat you like a child- don't be surprised and complain about it to those of us who have figured this out. In fact, you're only fueling a negative stereotype for ________ (fill in the blank... sports car drivers, young people, minorities, etc.) that the rest of us will have to suffer for.

I've been profiled many times over by the PD- I look like a young kid (non white) driving a lowered "fixed up" car through nice neighborhoods. I've been pulled over plenty of times for useless nonsense like "no front plate" or "um, your car looks too low." You know what I usually get? A warning. Why? Because from the moment the lights go on behind me, I know what to do, and I treat the guy with the respect he/she deserves. I don't think some of you may have been jaded by a bad experience or story but don't give the PD the credit they deserve.

You have a "I had a bad day" story about a run-in with a cop? I'm sure you'd gladly take it rather than trade it for a cop's "bad day." You have a bad day and you're 15 minutes late and $200 poorer, probably for your own ignorance. They have a bad day and their widow gets a visit from their partner. You think their job is easy? Go do it. I'm not going to, so I'm glad they're there.

When I get pulled over, I look at it as an opportunity to break a stereotype. Everybody who has pulled me over has probably left thinking "I guess not all ________ (fill in the blank... sports car drivers, young people, minorities, etc.) are bad." Although, thanks to some on the board, it seems I'm fighting an uphill battle...

To the original poster: Slidewayz- our opinions probably differ, but way to man-up and apologize in your last thread. Watch out dude, you might be growing up

Who's to be the judge what is too fast and whats not!? I got a reckless driving ticket in my hatchback for barking my tires! I know when, and when not to be a smart ass, and this time alowed for it. Most cops get a power trip telling people what they should and shouldn't do, so anytime i know i can get away with it, i will. I do volunteer work at the PD and am in pretty good with the police officers that have been around for while, so my back is watched.
It sounds like you get a power trip from being a smart ass to cops. In my state, an officer can use his judgement to decide if you are speeding and write a ticket for it. Now the court battle is different, but if you're polite...he will be too(most of the time).

Ya, I must be old, I'm 32 years old, I drive the shit out of my car, I tear off from street lights all the time.. I DONT however bitch about police harrasment if I get caught.

Seriously, I my be old, but a few of you people could certainly stand to grow up a bit..

Lets close this thread down

But I want to make one last response:

It seems that ur from Canada, and I know its a socialist country and a conduit for islamic terrorists into the U.S., but we have a concept called freedom of speech here. But here in the U.S. also we have a problem with police abuse of power and brutality here in the U.S. (the news is full of caught-on-videos of police beating up suspects and of police corruption). It seems that there are many citizens with similar experience and they just want to share it. Peace!
