Default has anyone used this on their top?

I've read several older threads on this, but I am getting the famed wear holes on my top.

I already got a professional quote to have the top patched for $100, and would rather avoid having to spend that much. I plan on saving up until this Fall when I can buy a brand new top. In the mean time I am looking for a quick fix (not duct tape) that is not easily noticeable and will withstand at least six months.

Before I plunk down the $21, I just wanted to see if anyone has had experience with this patch kit and if it will do the job for a stress hole on the top.

Vinyl repair kit

Thanks!

I bought something similar to fix a small hole on the door panel. It did a decent job on the panel. I never used it on the top though.

$100 for a patch seems really high. I paid 30 for a 2x2 L shaped tear caused by my soft top latch. Nice job too. I would call around.

Go to a local fabric store and see what they have in the way of black vinyl (my local store has black vinyl reminents in various thicknesses and patterns that would make good patch material). Get a patch size piece (1"x2"?, and not too thick) and glue it to the top inside fabric at the wear point, fabric side to fabric side using fabric glue. This should let the vinyl side of the patch take the future wear from the edge of the frame joint, and also strengthen the now weakened spot on the roof fabric. Also look at grinding down the sharp edge on the frame joint. Note that I haven't done this yet, but it is on the soon to-do list as I have a wear spot developing.

Well I haven't really had a chance to shop around for patch jobs... But no one has used this product?

I guess going to a fabric store is a good option as well.

I wish honda had a patch kit--but I guess they'd rather sell you the top instead.
