Default Hate Crime or Theft!?

Last week i took a small vacation to visit family & friends in Portland, Oregon for Xmas then New Years. Garaged my s2000 in our garage! (note this is my apartment garage open to all occupants of the apartment w/ a garage remote)
[/I]

Got back to the bay area last night - went down to move my S and discovered this.

I immediately checked the inside for signs of stolen goods. Nothing was taken, nothing was tampered with, my center glove box was locked & stereo still there.

Could the thief not have enough time to steal anything? or some dumb ass from the apartment having a jolly good time cutting my top?

Also as i was filing a police report- two parking space down, I noticed the owner of a range rover had a whole lot of broken glass in his space. I"m going to talk to him tonight when I get home. he might have been a victim of theft too..

sigh***

anyone in the bay area know a place to fix my top? what are my options now?

looks like someone was just being a dick...a thief would have cut it closer to the door to reach in to unlock.

Just file an insurance claim and get a brand new top. There's no repairing that.

^ Agree'd, sorry to hear man. That is a huge rip and isn't really repairable without it looking rediculous. Looks like it may be a good time for a new soft top or a hardtop.

I don't know that a hardtop would be out of the question. I know that our quote for insurance would be right around 2k and that would be for the best soft top on the market. I'm sure though that you could get an even higher quote from a Honda dealer and just get the check from your insurance to buy you a HT.

I'll get on the phone with insurance soon. This totally sucks, what a way to start my new year.

I understand you weren't expecting this to happen and it most definitely sucks but you'll make it out of it and you'll get something better! Honestly, I would get a quote from a dealership and not even worry going to a trim shop if you want the money to get a hard top.
