Default headlight alignment

I have recently noticed that, as I point my car at a wall that there is kind of a step from the right light beam to the left one - I never noticed this before even though it may have come that way - is it normal?

yup, that is normal...the driver's side IS supposed to be pointed down a tad to avoid blinding oncoming traffic...with HID's it doesn't matter though, you are going to blind the poor souls regardless... hehe.
