Headlight Trouble
forgive me if this has been covered before, I tried a search but unsuccessful.
earlier this week i pulled my car out of the garage and left it in the drive to warm up. it was dark so i had turned the lights on. i noticed the right headlight was "pulsating" (Getting intermittantly a little brighter then dimming slightly). When I came back out the light had completely gone out.
my car only has 7000 miles on it, i got it new in march of 2001 and have probably driven it less than 10 hours with the lights on.
has anyone else experienced this premature burnout? any trouble having it covered by warranty?
thanks

There will be no problem with getting it covered under warranty first of all, so no worries. Secondly, many S2K's have had problems early in their lives (including mine) with headlights not coming on when the car is started and such, it's always the same side of the car if memory serves. It's the inverter most probably. Try turning the lights off and then back on again to see what it does, if that fixes it it's the inverter connection and will most probably go away on it's own (don't ask me why cause I can't remember, something about the type of connection it is, maybe someone else knows). Don't freak over it at this point, it's either going to go away or get fixed under warranty.

Don't be tempted to mess with the HID's yourself, it's garage job to replace them. Even a defunct HID unit can contain enough power to seriously mess with you!! That's what it says in my manual anyway!
From the FAQ section:
If you have trouble with the passenger side headlight coming on sometimes you are not alone. This is a common problem on the S2000, but usually goes away with time. If you turn on your headlights and the passenger side doesn't light up, just turn them off for a second and turn them back on and it should come on. If the problem persists, talk to the dealer about installing you a new inverter

That's why I love this board!
Thanks for the responses.
Incidentally the light is consistently "out" no amount of turning on and off will fix it. The dealer seemed to recognize when I suggested that it might be the inverter. Have an appt. to have it fixed (under warranty) on Monday.

Thanks again to all who responded. Unfortunately weather prevented me from getting to dealer for a bit, but, as it turns out my problem was a bad inverter.
Just thought I'd confirm it for anyone who has a similar experience down the road.
I had to wait one day for them to get a new one - but replaced under warranty - no sweat.
