Sounds like you need a used Civc or a Zoloft prescription. There's absolutely no use in worrying about things you can't control (break ins, wrecks, door dings etc.) As for mileage, who cares dude? There's nothing wrong with high miles on a vehicle. We've been conditioned by car manufacturers to think that anything over 80K is bad so that they can sell you another car. As long as you're diligent with maintenance you'll be fine.

I agree. It's a car, not a family member. The golden rule for a sports car is "Drive it like a rental." You won't enjoy it as much otherwise. Learn to let go of the anxiety.

I'll never buy a new car off the lot again for this reason. Love the feeling of a new car, but hate the feeling of watching it degrade more.

I beat the hell out of my S. It has no other purpose in life than to bring a smile to face as I use it for what it was designed for. If it breaks I'll fix it. Don't care if it gets dinged or scratched. If the day ever comes that it is completely trashed I'll decide wether to put her back together or let her go. But I'm not going to lose any sleep over her condition. She's perfect when she's a little used, a little beat up, a little dirty.

This is my favorite post in a while because it's so honest. While I'm lucky enough to have a company vehicle for driving to and from work and all business travel, the s2k is all I own and all my personal driving time is spent inside it. Those telling this guy to buy a beater, which doesn't sound feasible for him now, or sell it are missing what I think he was trying to say. This is about loving something too much to not to have in your life and giving up certain things, whether it be financial or personal, to make it possible. Maybe the stress over parking and the daily commute is worth the tranquility that being alone with the car on a beautiful road with no set destination brings him--something he'd otherwise never feel if he was driving a Civic or RAV4 because it made "sense."

It is for me as well. Cherish the car.

i got an ap2 to obviously, drive it! it is truly a fun experience to have the freedom to mod it to your taste and drive it like its intended to be driven. i do understand that if it has a sentimental value, then you can either choose longevity or experience. you'll have to make certain sacrifices. since it's a dd, dings and scratches are inevitable- but of course we all try to avoid it as much as possible. anyway, good luck!

I drive my s2k like I stole it. But I treat it like a queen too. Quality parts and quality fluids!

I'm 30 years old. There is no way in hell I'm letting this car sit in a garage when it can be enjoyed on the road. These cars are meant to be driven, its apparent the first time you get in one and get to drive it. Just enjoy your prized posession, There is no better way to love a car than actually driving it and putting mileage on it.

Get good insurance, use your head to where you park the car, drive defensibly and don't worry about things you have no control over. If it's going to bother you to DD your S, sell it and get a car you wont worry about and when you get a better paying job down the road, then go find a car(hopefully a "S") and then have fun with it.

Best of Luck,
