hearbreak of a daily driver my03
About the only advantage of being old & clapped out is that, as bits of you don't work too well any more, they give you a disabled sticker for your car.
OK so I can park closer to the shops, so what. What it really means is I can park in those nice wide disabled parking bays. Not only does this mean I can open my door fully, without hitting another car, making it easier to get out, but so can the car parked beside me, so no door dings.
One other thing I have noticed, people using those bays to get people out of cars, & into wheel chairs are always really careful not to hit other cars with the thing. Top Marks to the disabled, & their helpers.

This is my favorite post in a while because it's so honest. While I'm lucky enough to have a company vehicle for driving to and from work and all business travel, the s2k is all I own and all my personal driving time is spent inside it. Those telling this guy to buy a beater, which doesn't sound feasible for him now, or sell it are missing what I think he was trying to say. This is about loving something too much to not to have in your life and giving up certain things, whether it be financial or personal, to make it possible. Maybe the stress over parking and the daily commute is worth the tranquility that being alone with the car on a beautiful road with no set destination brings him--something he'd otherwise never feel if he was driving a Civic or RAV4 because it made "sense."
It is for me as well. Cherish the car.
