hearbreak of a daily driver my03
I hear ya.. I weekend warrior mine, and I go through all that heartache. I can only imagine it being a DD. I know plenty of people drive it just to drive, but for me, I don't think driving to work qualifies as 'enjoying' the experience. Plus at least for me, it was the car I purchased right before my dad passed. I told him about the color, he approved, but he never got to see it. So somehow my s2k has a special place in my heart. Any pothole, any ding, hurts. Yes, it's an inanimate object that can be replaced. But it's mine...and I don't want it replaced. So yes, I feel ya!
Can I make a few suggestions to you:
1. Get a 'beater' car for a DD. I know you're in school and low on cash, but 500-1000 dollars for an old civic will give you some piece of mind.
2. Raise your car up some. I know it looks cool to have it 'scrape' the ground, but it sucks when you run over a pebble and it hits your undercarriage, not to mention anythign larger.
3. In the end, it's a car. It's going to get scratched, dinged, beaten up, wrecked, etc. The best thing you can do is enjoy it, but don't become an a$$hole about it with yourself. You're goign to have rocks hit it, you're going to have people ding it's doors. This WILL happen. I used to be REALLY anal about my car, but now I know I can only do so much, so I'm goign to do what I can and leave the rest up to the car gods so to speak.
Keep enjoying your car, and maybe a wreck is just a reason to replace that front bumper or rear tailight with something you want.

I daily my car in the Spring/Summer/Early fall. Wouldn't have it any other way, I love driving it too much. I didn't buy it so it could sit in the garage, I bought it to enjoy driving it.
But to each their own, some people enjoy low miles and seeing the car in the garage.
Sounds like you might benefit from a dirt cheap DD though.

+1 on buying a cheap daily driver and/or putting your s2k back to stock ride height. It will cost more to repair the damages to your s2k over time than it will to buy a beater for a grand. I can't imagine what a pain it is to drive a lowered s2k, my s2k scrapes the front bumper on inclines even at stock ride height.
We bought our S in Nov. 2010 and have put over 46k miles on it so far. We bought the car to drive not to look at, it's a Honda go out and have fun. If you don't trash it, it will last a very very long time. If all your going to do is worry about somebody vandalizing your car your going to get a ulcer. Get good insurance, use your head to where you park the car, drive defensibly and don't worry about things you have no control over. If it's going to bother you to DD your S, sell it and get a car you wont worry about and when you get a better paying job down the road, then go find a car(hopefully a "S") and then have fun with it.

It does not really matter how many miles your car has. If you avoid driving your car just so you don't raise that number, then you really aren't enjoying it. You car also has over 100k, its not like your preserving some garage queen that will sell for well over it's value.
As for being scared of it getting stolen, everyone has to deal with that. A fancy alarm isn't going to save your car so it's best just to get over it and let the cards play themselves out. If your car does get stolen, knock on wood, then worry about it and deal with it then. There is no point to stress about something that "could" happen.
Raise your car, it will handle better and be better to drive. It's not a race car, it's a daily driver. You don't want to scrape, then raise it, or stop complaining. And S paint isn't something to brag about. It's super thin and bugs will cause it to chip.
Overall, get over it and enjoy your car.

If you stress that much over your S2000, it sounds like you need a different car. You dont like avoiding speed bumps and scraping the bottom? RAISE IT UP! Not trying to be an ass, but geez. You know the problem and you can fix it, but would rather stress and complain. I can understand worrying about people dinging your doors and such, but if you are having to slam on your brakes and worry about getting rear ended, then you are just being dangerous. Make the car so you can drive normally. Or just raise it up or park it in a bubble so nothing happens to it. /rant
In my area there are no cheap daily drivers.Large military base area where everyone tries to get full value for their junk. Car was lowered one inch when I got it, I still enjoy driving it and good nsurance is shot for me for numerous speeding tickets when I was younger. I just wish I could keep it looking good. Its mechanically sound, but I'm tired of being viewed as one of those young guys who bought an s and trashed it. I'm not really stressed stressed, its just sad to see such a great car being dinged up and such. I know the paint is nothing to brag about, but it still cost a lot at body shops here for resprays and such.
