It seems that there's an airbag sensor in the seatback on the passenger side

No there isn't At least not on 2005 MY and below. There MIGHT be something on '06 cars, but I have had the seats out of my S2000 numerous times and there is NO electrical connection on the passenger seat. I am sure this is true for 2004 and 2005 also.

I have been thinking about getting heated seats too.

I'm tempted to get this done and put the seat and back heaters in for the passenger side.

My wife loves heated seats, and I really don't like them at all.

Here is the link to Checkcorp, the manufacturer of the Check heated seat kits. I don't know about availability in the UK, but there is info for distributors/installers all over the USA.

http://www.checkcorp.com/

They have a video on how to do the installation, although they resist selling to non-installers when you phone Check.
Thanks for the info

I found a site that sells the "Premier" version of the Check seat heater (3 position switch) for $154 per seat. www.sportsimportsltd.com. I guess that means about $150 for installation at an upholstery shop?

CheckCorp sells the components to end users, but they sell at the MSRP (which for the above mentioned heater is $299 per seat.

Their installers get the components at a reduced price (assumning, of course that they pass the savings on for the parts and make their $$ on the install).

I LOVE my seat heaters. I think they were $300 or $350 installed and it only took a few hours. They do either the back, or the bottom and the back. I mounted the switches on the kidney panels (on either side of the stereo). They're 100% hidden unless you look for them, but all you have to do to turn them on is reach forward and flip a switch. It's easier than turning on your stereo. My switches are about the size and shape of a dime.

CheckCorp says that the S2K has a airbag sensor in the seat back on the passenger side so they only do the seat bottom for passenger. There are more wires on the passenger side than for the drivers seat on my 05, so I assumed that they were correct. Additionally, I remember that the airbags on the passenger seat are supposed to be staged, according to the weight of the passenger. Does anyone know for certain if there is an airbag sensor in the passenger seat back?

They installed heater pads in the bottom and back of the drivers seat and only the bottom for the passenger seat. CheckCorp claims that there is an airbag sensor in the seat back on the passenger side and I think this may be correct, although I don't know for certain. My passengers tell me that the seat bottom heater is great and I am delighted with the back and bottom heater in the left seat. I've seen a few posts in which people say you don't need seat heaters in California, and they are probably correct. You can live without seat heaters. Nevertheless, they are wonderful on those cold mornings, don't cost much, only add about a pound of weight, look like a factory installation and enhance driving comfort.
