I've installed seat heaters in 2 S2Ks---my 05 and my 07. not hard at all----the DIY thread is a good one.
I used Carbotex carbon fiber seat heaters from W.E.T. Automotive--they're a German Company that's the OEM seat heater supplier to 23 manufacturers including Honda, Toyota, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Porshe, GM, Ford, etc
Here's their link---
I think they are a great product---They're also used by a lot of aftermarket installers. You can get then direct from their US distributer for a great price---I bought my second set last November for $158 (plus $15 shipping) for their 2 seat deluxe kit--comes with elements for the butts and seatbacks, two switches and all wiring and relays----there's only 3 wires to hook up to the car----one "hot", one ground, and one to the empty plug on the fusebox that is hot when the ignition is on (this trips a relay to turn them off when you turn the car off)
here's the link to the distributer----print off their order form and call them to order---they shipped same day on both my orders---
I did mine with this kit a couple weeks ago. So far I'm very happy with it. If you can pull apart the seats and wire to the fuse box it's an easy install. My only complaint with this kit is that the switches aren't lighted.
If you google heatedseatkits.com there are alot of complaints.
One tip - you'll have to decide if you want the heater to cover the front 2/3rds of the lower seat, or if you want to pull the metal bar that runs across there and cover the whole lower seat. If you pull the bar you lose some tension on the leather there.
I did my driver's seat as 2/3rds and can tell that the back of the seat stays colder.
The seat relays I zip tied to the bottom of the seats and the main relay I stuffed into the open space under the console armrest.
I removed the metal bar and cut about an inch off it and made a new end "hook" with needlenose pliers and reinstalled it using zip ties---I cut out the middle section of the pad (the heating element) where the bar is (but left the solid section along each edge intact that conducts the current ) That way you can run the seat bottom element all the way to the end of the seat
You have some good suppliers of carbon seat kits in the states, my kit was UK sourced about £50 for both seats and a couple of evenings work to install.
Easy and great mod, we use them regularly with the top down in the UK weather
I noticed most of you have leather oem seats ~ has this ever been attempted on CR seats?
Do you guys have pictures of the heating elements before installed in the seats themselves? I'm on the fence about putting these in OEM seats or aftermarket ones but it seems the CR oem's are a bit different material.
I love the switches mounted near the cigarette lighter, so OEM looking - perfect spot IMO.
the CR seats are very similar except for the leather material and stitching--should be the same installation.
Cartek has pictures of the elements on their website
I put my switches by the cig lighter too----definitely looks OEM there

There is a picture of the element you can see by clicking here. We used the 9 X 18 element for $100.
These elements will work on the CR seat as well as cloth seats.
We use Check Seat heaters in for all of our applications. They're a little more expensive but they carry the best warranty and have the best customer service from our experience.
