Talking HELP!

Hey what's up fellow S2000 lovers!!! Anyway I have 2004 S2K and the car just hit 5800 miles so after waiting the 5000 mile first oil change I had Honda put the Mobil 1 in and drove home. The next day my "Maint req" light came on not the engine light. I called Honda and they said Honda does that to remind you to get oil changed. The service tech said I can reset that light to go off since it comes on every time I start the car but was unable to get it to go off. Anybody please help!

P.S. The more I break this car in the more I love it. I love everything about it and have people even stop me several times on wanting to know what make it was. This car is an absolute blast to drive.

Check your owner's manual, it will tell you how to turn the light off.

Mobil 1 sells conventional oil, he may have that.

Otherwise, I think dealerships should make people sit for 30 min.- 1 hour with an owner's manual in front of them.

I change my oil & filter after 3k miles (3k to 4k depending on how lazy I am). Yes I know this is very often and the oil comes out relatively clean. Yes, I know what the manual says. Still, nothing bad can come of taking too many showers or waxing my car every month. I think the 30-40 dollar investment is cheap to keep your motor happy and clean. As for the showers ask your girlfriend. Anyway, I once went to a Jiffy Lube and they did not re-set my computer so this is true (your light will go on). I've been to my dealer ever since but they charge too much so I'm probably going back to Jiffy Lube and re-set the computer myself. As for the mobil 1 (if it is Synthetic) you should wait until after 10k, they say this because of the break in period. I've asked many people from mechanics to just other people's opinions and they all say that if you're going to wait the 5k to 7.5 k to change your oil it is a good idea to go w/ synthetic, but any oil will last the 3k. My decision was cost wise and common sense, I could get 2 oil changes w/ filter at 3k than 1 change and filter w/ synthetic at 5 to 7.5k miles for the same cost (maybe a tad more). Happy motoring.

Can you give me a page # from the manual where it says not to change to syn until 10K miles? I've looked several times but cannot find it. I suspect it's a urban legend for the AP2.
