Default Help me decide what to do!

Let me first say that I have been known to buy a car and sell it within a year of ownership. That being said...I think the S2000 is a great car and it has better handling than any car I've ever driven, but it just isn't fast enough for me. I considered turbocharging it for a while, but it's just too much money and a big PITA to be honest.

My question to you guys is, what car do you think I would be happy with...keeping in mind that I'm coming from a roadster that has great handling. The cars I'm looking at are a 2005 STi, 2005 350Z roadster, 2002 Corvette, and a 2002 Camaro SS. I'm also still considering turbocharging the S...so if any of you think that would be the best bet, please say it. Thanks, guys.

Matt

if you don't care about looks, i'd say get an evo9. Heard they can be made a lot quicker with a decent amount of cash. sorry to get off topic, but i wanted to ask, doesn't all the selling and trading cars add up price wise? Like through taxes?

Not that I know of. My Acura was the only car I bought from a dealership...the other ones were basically private sellers (in which we lied about the purchase price and didn't pay much for taxes.) If I were looking to get a car that I could make real fast with modification, I would get an Evo IX. But I personally am not a fan of Evo's. If I were to get an STi I probably wouldn't even do anything to it. My last STi had a ton of problems, and I'd enjoy the car stock if it didn't give me a headache.

haha i think a bunch of problems wit the subby would steer you into evo territory, but do what you will, the subby will be quicker though thats for sure! goodluck

I dont know why, but every time I drive a Subaru it feels too boxy. I mean they are fast but the car feels to square and upright to me. I like cars to be more sleek. I would def go with an EVO over an STI.

Picking from the list you put there honostly I would keep the S unless you could get a top of the line 2002 Vette and even then I might keep the S

I've got a 94 Z28 which I bought in Oct of 99. I've tracked the car, and tricked it out with many suspension components. I love how BRUTAL the car is. The LT1 cannot be beat for torque. The car makes nearly 350 RWHP at about 6000 RPM, and 340 RWTQ at 2200 RPM all the way to nearly 5000. That is what makes a car feel fast.

Getting into a turbo vehicle or the like is going to give you that feeling of power, but only once the turbo spools up. You want lost of power, you're going to sacrifice RPM until the turbo gets going.

IMHO you cannot beat torque. The LSx engine does not feel fast and torqey per se. However the cars are. The C5s are about 400 lbs lighter than the f-body so power wise everything else being equal they will out perform.

I have just put my f-body which I have loved since day one in the auto trader. I'm getting an S2000. Not for the power.... for the handling, braking and all around fit and finish. I just saw a Corvette drive past my window and it rumbled down the street. I know I'm going to miss that, more than anything else.

i say nay to the 350z roadster. its gonne be heavier than the s2k and slower, so that wouldn't fix ur speed need. I would take a evo over the sti, but u've ruled that out. So I think you should get the vette. We all know how good the vettes are so I wont bother praising it, but that would definately be the best out of the bunch. Good Luck.

I was in a similar position when I bought my S2000. I've never had a V-8 muscle car, but I knew I would miss the power of my STi. The S2000 has been fun...and I will definitely miss it, but I want more power. I completely agree with you on your torque perspective...I loved that most about my STi.

The 350Z really isn't slower than the S...and even if it is, it's extremely close. The 350Z feels a HELL of a lot faster since it has torque, and in some ways it's a lot more fun.

I haven't ruled out the Evo, I just don't particularly like them. If I found a good deal on one I'd get it...but I'd rather an STi.

weight, horsepower, gearing > torque, torque only makes a car feel fast,
power to weight and gearing actually make it fast.
o.p. if your gonna sell the S get a vette anything else will be a let down.
