Default Help needed with gps install

Saw the instructions on the main page of the s2ki webside but am encountering two problems. Unless i haven't figured it out, the garmin c320 only can power on by hitting the button on the side of the unit. When its in the cupholder, it can't be reached.

Also, for power, I want to install another power outlet instead of using the factor one. I know i could run it ot the battery but then it would always have power going to it. How can I run it so that its when the car is on. I have am amp for the speakers underneath the drivers side seat, can I tap into this.

Thanks

you dont need to hit the power button. you need to hardwire the unit into the ignition plug in the fusebox. it will turn on and off automatically with the ignition that way. basically like it was plugged into the cig lighter.

buy a female cigarette lighter plug from radio shack. any one will do. i bought an extension actually, so it has both male and female ends. then cut it with enough length (maybe youll want to use the male end for some other project, so leave a bit of slack, or not) then crimp on a female spade connector to the positive end and strip the negative side and tuck it under the ground screw nearby the fusebox. look up to the left, youll see the ground cluster, bitch to get to tho.
