Hardwiring in the streetpilot
So i just got my streetpilot, and i'm planning on installing it similarly to the way Rick did here.

I'm thinking of running the cable down the frame to the fusebox where i can power it and the speaker off there. Does anyone know where i can safely tap 12V? I would like it hot only when the key is in position 1 or 2.
any help?

You don't need to go to all that trouble -- you can tap right into the power for the interior lights, which is what I did. This is ideal, since the power is always switched on, which means you never have to run the StreetPilot on its internal battery power.
As for the speaker, I would recommend getting a small auxiliary speaker from an electronics store and hooking it up somewhere under the dash where it is out of sight. All you have to do is clip the stock StreetPilot speaker off its lead, drill a small hole in the plastic frame cover where you can leave the jack exposed for pluggin into the Street Pilot, then run the lead down under the a-pillar cover to the speaker.
I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow of how my set up was done.
