If you had something like F/I I could understand some concern, but a CAI and a TP, They have to be crazy. I think Hondas' Customer service has slipped over the past 5+ years. Sorry to hear about your situation, I hope it works out for you.

Jsy622,

Again, you need to do your homework. Your S2000 "specialist" got it wrong. The oil jet problem was taken care of mid-year 2002.

Sorry to bust your bubble, the banjo bolts were still on some early 2003's. My MY 03 went up in smoke idleing in a parking lot for 20-minutes. Scored number 4.

After inspection, the old-style banjo bolts we still there and determined to be the cause.

My new motor has the new bolts and a larger oil pump.

FWIW, 5K for to fix this motor and give a 12/12 warranty is not so bad. Move on with life.

According to the "mythology" of s2ki, engines made after engine # 1025386 (mid-year change for 2002) have the new bolts.

Out of curiosity did you buy your S2000 used or new? It would be interesting to learn what your engine number is...

If you can't afford to pay then you can't afford to play. Grow up, cut your losses and move on.

I went to the dealer and got a copy of my history and it states that I made a complaint about a noise comping from the motor in 2005. They didn't do anything about it then. Now, they give me an estimate 4,900 dollars to replace the whole engine because they say everything is worn. Isn't it the dealers fault for not finding the problem when I complained?
So you are saying you complained about it BEFORE the new parts were added? That would be pretty good ammo for a fight with Honda. I would be going up the chain with Honda Corporate...

IF you can prove that you did not have the mods on the car prior to your first complaint (i.e. you took the car in on initial complaint, dealer inspected looking for problem stated in original complaint, and dealer did not notice any engine modifications and dealer either documented the fact that mods were not installed or have a presumption of lack of mods by virtue of them not documenting modifications installed)

AND

Dealer has documentation from the initial complaint sufficient to indicate the original complaint is indeed the same as the current problem

THEN

You might get lucky.

It could be a tough sell as a general assumption might be that if you are abusing your car now with mods, you probably were abusing your car then (with or without those same mods).

I also hate to say it, but even though it probably has nothing to do with the problem, this is a likely outcome from installing race-only, street-illegal parts like a test pipe.
you my friend are an absolute idiot!!! don't talk about things you don't know..since the test pipe is literally a freaking pipe...nothing mechanical about it..how the hell would that do anything to his engine...next time don't speak and you'll help us all out.

on another note...the OP was the same type of idiot for bringing the car in with the parts on it...just plain stupid...otherwise i hope everything works out for you!!!

hells no, i'm a new member and i can't stand seeing crap like that being posted...if the OP had a race built supercharger pumping insane boost and it blew the engine then i'd say something like that...but a test pipe is the same exact thing as the cat but it doesn't have the honeycomb/platinum in it...how the f is that gonna cause anything the OP has had happen to him? don't be a freaking idiot....like i pointed out though...the OP was just as bad taking the car into the dealer with the parts on it...wtf you think they're gonna do if they see an easy exit door on your claim?!?!
