[QUOTE=Cyclon36,May 2 2005, 06:02 AM]I would have loved to have my S in college, but I'm glad I didn't b/c I stress over it so much already about where I park and security.

My Monte Carlo was scratched twice and dented in the rear quater panel the first week I was in college. I also pledged so being able to transport one other person was COMPLETELY impracticle. I wanted an S back then too, bad. Matter of fact the summer they came out was the summer I left for school. Even my wallpaper on my computer was of a GPW S. If I had gotten this car then, I wouldn't be here to tell you about it....trust me.
How about this equation: Alcohol (lots and lots) + S2000 = ????

Although I was racing at the time of the accident (I had a 91 accord with an H22) you have to understand how ignorant SOME elderly drivers can be sometimes (those of you that live in south Florida know what I'm talking about).

no offense but get this.

I found out today that this kid i know just got a 05 fully loaded wrx sti from his mom.

car he had

2001 integra type R (first car and first time driving standard) what happen "wrecked", tranny gone and wrecked it racing.

2004 350z 4 months wrecked again (driving fast in the rain on the hwy)

2005 wrx sti 2 months

Look what this kid is doing to his mom, Insurance shot out the roof, all these cars is worth 80k combine. Why his mom still buy him car...afraid he might run away or start stealing and end up in jail.

I think he should be in jail, learn the hard way. Over all IMO the car you want should be the car you can get on your own. Stay in school and get a good job. Then when your older get the car you always wanted.

this is not a new age. There are still plenty of us young people who pay for their stuff and get a lot of pride out it. Your comparison of the s2k and the neon only applies if both parents paid for the cars. ( I assume that your logic is that since the neon owner only has to worry about pissing away $10k of his parents money, he will be in less trouble than the kid who beats an S to hell when the parents find out) I had an 87 chevy nova when i was first driving and even though i only paid about 500 bucks for it, i took care of it as well as i take care of my S.

You are ruining the reputation of all <25 year old S owners on the board!!! stop positng crap like that.
It may be that i live in Hunterdon county (i think were like the richest in the US, we were at one point), so i have a skewed view of things. But here, buying a brand new mustang is common. One kid had a brand new lexus gs300. after he flipped it, he got a G35 coupe. A bunch of my friends have crazy project cars and stuff. In my high school, senior year, kids were driving new celicas, new hondas, mazdas, etc. So its not so common here that you find a kid with an S2k (ill hopefully be getting one soon! sooner if i hadnt wasted my money on modding my A4... D'OH!)

And i know kids who have cheap cars. Like my friend has this 1990 jeep wrangler that can barely stay together, and all he does is beat it to shit for no reason. One time we went off roading and he got stuck so i had to go home and get my moms explorer and drag his ass out. And on the other hand, I have never beat my car at all because i knew one day i wanted to sell it. I was just stupid at wasting my money on shit, especially since Audi parts are rediculously expensive.

But i know what youre saying that not all kids who drive cheap cars arent going to take care of them. I think depending on who you are, how your parents raised you, how youve lived and managed your time/money over the years, is going to determine whether or not getting a new car is worth it. My dad got me my car so i would learn, cause he knew i would. Sounds to me like this kid just wants the car so the girls from his high school will notice him a little more.

I am not ruining the reputation. I dont think you can compare an 18/19 year old to a 25 year old (the difference could be a college degree, etc.). Again, my eyes are twisted mainly because of wehre i live and how a majority of kids here live.

I agree. I havent asked my parents permission for anything since i was 18 because they dont pay my bills. (This is not to say that i dont hope for their approval, but when it comes down to it, I live how i want.) On the other hand, I have friends who are 23 and still have to ask their parents for permission for the stupidest things. These are grown men and women asking mommy and daddy if it's ok if they live with a roomate of the opposite gender and stuff like that. If you wanna be a momma's boy until your midlife crisis, then let your parents buy you the car. otherwise, i wouldnt let them buy it for me if they wanted to.

fair enough. but some cars are designed to take abuse. The wrangler is fun because it is so awsome offroad. Sportscars, on the contrary are to be kept nice and zoom around on the highway and pick up chicks. however, outside of beverly hills, some chicks would rather hop into the muddy wrangler, than the S.

different strokes man.

Most parents do today. Parents don't care about raising children anymore. They care only about making themselves feel good by fooling themselves into thinking they're good parents. They define their own self worth through their childrens' behavior, and rightfully so. If they admitted that they've raised a worthless, good for nothing, shithead of a kid, they would suffer a mental breakdown at the realization that they themselves are no better than the degenerate spawn of their sexual unions.

And for those who try to play the "It's a different time now," "It's harder being a kid now," and "You don't understand card," grow the f*ck up. I was around then, and I'm around now. It is no more difficult being a good kid now than it was 30 years ago. You have no one but yourself to blame for your own mental weaknesses.
