Help Please! Need to convince parents....

Most parents do today. Parents don't care about raising children anymore. They care only about making themselves feel good by fooling themselves into thinking they're good parents. They define their own self worth through their childrens' behavior, and rightfully so. If they admitted that they've raised a worthless, good for nothing, shithead of a kid, they would suffer a mental breakdown at the realization that they themselves are no better than the degenerate spawn of their sexual unions.

I took my spills and blamed it on nobody except me and bad luck. Now parents want to blame somebody else for their kids shortcomings. They're not even allowed to play dodge ball in school anymore b/c some sissy kneepad wearing spoiled kid got hurt and his mommy sued the school and ruined the game for everybody. Just once I would like to see a case where some kid is someplace where he's not suppose to be (i.e. tresspassing, being an idiot), drowns in a neighbors pool, gets run over, or whatever and the parents sue the owner for not ruining his yard with a fence around it and the judge to simply say "sorry man, but tough sh!t. Accidents happen and life isn't fair, but your kid shouldn't have been in that guys yard, jumped the fence and played with the dangerous dog, stole a knife and stabbed somebody, or whatever the deal is nowadays.

I agree. I blame the whole damn deal on plastic playground equipment. Kids use to learn how to take troubles and pain and deal with it. Now you have all that safety crap equpment with 2 foot long slides and cheap clubhouses. I use to play on metal slides that would burn your ass if you weren't fast enough and good wooden forts that would splinter the hell out of you if you ran around like an idiot and fell over. That's when we finally got them, mostly we would find some cheap lumber laying around and build our own forts not like these kids today that can't wipe their ass without instructions. I also rode my bike with no helmet and pads b/c helmets and pads make kids grow up to be gay.

Before everyone goes on bashing this guy for trying to get a car from his parents...you have to realize that not every family is in the same "social and financial" status.
It is true, wealthy kids expect more from their parents because their parents have loads of money. You can't blame the guy for trying to get a "free" car. If he is ABLE to get a free car, then he SHOULD at least try, given that his parents are willing. Criticism of his parents decision and his intentions is no one's business as his family's personal life and situation DIFFERS from everyone else's.
Hell, if your parents are wealthy enough to buy you a new car, home, wedding, etc., then you should accept it.
Just because most of us are not as fortunate and HAVE to pay our OWN through life, doesn't mean that we can CRITICIZE other people that are more fortunate. We just have to accept things the way they are and not HATE on people with more fortune.
I personally pay for my S on my own, but I don't criticize wealthy families or their kids, unless it is blatantly wrong (which is still a matter of further subjective debate).
To help this kid out with his question, I suggest that you PROVE your responsibility to your parents by getting a part-time job to fund some of the car expenses, giving them your word that you WILL drive carefully, making a deal that you will earn high marks in college otherwise the car will get sold, etc etc. Having a mature discussion and negotiation can help persuade them that you are talking after mature thought, and not immature desires.

Sure, I expect a spoiled rich kid to go whining to his parents to buy him a fancy car; these kids post on this site frequently (often followed by a post to the effect that his car was hit by a mean, malicious and apparently highly mobile stop sign, or dumpster, or whatever).
But it would be nice if the parents had the wisdom, strength and maturity to just say "No!" Let the kid drive a safe, low-powered car, for the convenience of the parents so that the kid doesn't have to be driven everywhere, but it is absurd to buy a kid a fancy, powerful car, especially when he's already shown, by street racing, that he has a great deal of growing up yet to do.

If the child will spend his entire adult life alone on an island in the south Pacific, that's fine. How they raise him is none of my business then. If that is not the case, then I, and the rest of society, have to deal with the result of their poor parenting, and how he is raised is definitely my business.

Your logic is flawed.
Dinnyin
If your family is rich and you want people to take notice of it but they just won't buy you a fancy sports car, an example from my experience may be a solution to you.
I'm from Hong Kong, went to a private international school for high school and sometimes it amazes me how wealth can make so much difference in the lifestyle. One day I was waiting for a bus some time after school from playing basketball, it was raining and I was soaked. After a few minutes of waiting, I saw a dark blue Rolls-Royce Parkward limo rolling into the school parking lot. Then a chauffeur came out with an umbrella to pick up a boy that was waiting on the steps and opened the door for him.
Much safer solution, just that you should ask them to get a Maybach 62 instead of the Rolls since that was 6 years ago.

This is how the typical post on the WRX STi/EVO forum starts:
"so this stupid cop pulls me over for going 110 in a 35..."
"my parents won't buy me an xxx..."
"I wrecked my xxx, and now my parents will only buy me a xxx. Don't they suck?"
Nothing against the adults who own/drive the STi/Evo (great cars), just so sick of the 15-18 year old crowd who have no clue about, umm, anything.

to answer the kids question no one can help you dude.
to what everyone else is sayin... if your parents offer it, then you can, and nobody here has the right to criticize just cause you had to work full time when you were a teen. i dont see anyone protesting to mr. hilfiger when he buys his dumb ass slut daughter a ferrari enzo, so dont go yackin to this kid about how stupid and irresponsible. buying and owning or getting a car in any way shape or form is a learning experience, it SHOULD be a learning experience. its just a matter of time when a kid decides its time for him to buy his own shit. you dont see 6 year olds with an allowance being blamed for being snobby or stuck up brats, do you? were you considered a brat when your parents bought you that toy at age 8? some people will learn faster than others, and some people may be in the situation where they NEVER have to learn because everything will be dealt to them on a silver platter. you cannot change that, and if the kid wants to get a car from his parents then let him. its not "wrong", its not "unlawful" or "irresponsible". its an opportunity, just like allowance was. the only difference is when youre 8, 5 bucks is amazing opposed to when youre 18-20 and you want a car.
my dad bought my car for $13,000, and he has three other kids who are coming up in age who he is also going to buy a car for. does that make him a bad father? you may think so because your parents werent as fortunate enough to have the expendable income as others do, and i think that its just plain jealousy coming out of those saying people are "shit heads". i got my car at the age of 17. for $13k, its a v6 with a 5 speed manual AWD. its a fun car. its a decently fast car. and guess what, im working for a major in biology with medical school in the future. am i a shit head?
oh and yes, it is a different time now. because more people are getting rich, more options are available for high paying jobs. how many times do you see someone with a crazy car with tens of thousands of dollars put into it with a fabulous california home in the background, and theyre in their mid-20's. did you see any of that in the 70s?
insurance for s2000's are high because their main drivers are young and inexperienced. it is cheaper for a middle age guy to insure a brand new corvette than a 20+ kid with an s2000.
helios8 i think there are some serious issues with you throwing words around like that. you should be the one coming back to reality and realizing that people are rich these days, and kids WILL get their hondas and their bmws and their audis and porsches, and whatever else there is out there. some people are more fortunate than others, and i think that kills you.
