Default Help with Ricks windscreen bumpers

Hi all, I recently installed Ricks 7/8 windscreen. I love it except I am having trouble keeping the rubber bumbers glued on. I have used super glue but they keep falling off.

I have cleaned the area on the roll bar very well but still no luck. They last a day or 2 then poof, off they come.

Thanks in advance for any help.

We were having the same problems. The glue to get is called Bob Smith IC-2000... its made to glue rubber to plastic and is shock resistant...

Zot, where did you get it? Here in town? Next time my bumpers come off (assuming they do), I'd like to try some.

Had the same problem initially. After they came loose the first time, I cleaned all of the glue off of the bumpers and reglued with super glue and they have been fine since at speeds up to 115 mph. At high speed they do rattle though.

I believe Rick recommended you don't use ordinary superglue. Try any hobbies store and get a liquid brand that bonds within a few seconds. That works best. Oh....and if your screen is rattling, you almost certainly don't have it properly located on the roll bar. Check Rick's photo illustration; the middle of the bumper should be just touching the top of the ears, without changing the "rest" position of the screen.

calc,

yes I bought it at I believe Hobby Town. It is in San Marcos right off of 78 and Nordahl in the parking lot where McDonalds, Roadhouse is. In the back of the parking lot area kind of out of site.

Most good hobby stores will have it though. IC2000.

One other thing to, I read in Ricks instructions and he said to make sure you get all the sticky stuff off the of rubber bumpers. It took my a while to figure that out but if you notice, there is sticky stuff on the bumpers themselves. If you work a little you can actually peel that off so all you have is the rubber bumper. So far they seem to be holding.

1Y2KS2K,

hmm, I think I might need to reglue mine then...AGAIN cuz I do get a little bit of movement of the screen. It doesn't really rattle, like making a noise but I do see the screen vibrating some at speed. Does that seem normal cuz I don't have them quite that high up on the ears.

Also, where can we buy those little bumpers? In case I need to get new ones.

Thanks

1Y2KS2K,

Yup, sounds like a good idea. I think I will re glue them. I have some debonder to use for cleaning, think thats ok? and did you use Bobs IC 2000?

Zot: I'm sure debonder is the stuff to use to remove any previous hardened glue; then clean the area thoroughly with alcohol before trying again. No, I didn't use Bob's IC 2000. I'm not sure of the brand I used (I sent the bottle to MarkS2K), but I got it in a hobbies store, and they recommended it. It was a liquid, with a two second bond time, and it came in a pink bottle. There are several other similar brands available; any of them should be suitable. (BTW. It stuck my fingers together in 2 seconds flat!) If you look at the pics in Rick's install thread, you'll see exactly where the bumpers should go: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...&highlight=glue
