Default Help Suspension Noise

I have a stock 06 s2000. 800 miles. Just after the 600 miles I started to press on a little bit more. I've been out twice for fast runs and on both occasions I have noticed that when turning sharp left at high speed, the front right (ie loaded) suspension/wheel/corner makes a horrible juddering sound. It's like a cross between bottoming out and ABS coming in (but brakes are not being applied). Road surface smooth in both cases. It's quite an alarming noise and vibration. Tire is not contacting bodywork or anything. I checked.

Does not happen when turning right.

Anybody experienced this before? Thanks.

Check if the dealer removed the spring spacers.

Yes, just jack the car up take off, the wheel, get a flashlight and look directly on the spring, they might even be behind it. You're looking for 4-5 inch long pieces of rubber that grab on to the spring. If I'm not mistaken there are 4 on each spring. They should have been removed by the dealer prior to ownership.

Try to get your hand as far up and around the spring to feel for a spacer. I would check all of the springs for them.

If it isn't a spring spacer, I'd post this in our under the hood forum and/or make an appointment with your dealer.

Is the traction control (VSA) on or off?

On. But it's the front wheel making the noise.

I was thinking that the stability control was individually braking that wheel, giving that ABS-like sound. That's how it sounds when it is working in my Bimmer- my S2000 is too old to have VSA!

Good luck.

Ah, good point.

Not sure how the VSA works, does it brake an undriven wheel if it senses slip? Sounds like a recipe for disaster(!) It would certainly fit the noise etc.

I'm gonna check for spring spacers in a bit too.

Well, it wasn't spring spacers. I guess it's back to the dealership..
