Default Here's an Easy Way to Clean the Interior of your S2000

Follow these steps and you will also be an owner of a spotless interior!
  • Put the top down on a beautiful day in December when the temp reaches an unheard of 69 degrees
  • Drive over to your father's house (any house will do) and visit for a while
  • Become so "involved" with dad's new surround sound that you hear only the missile casings and screams of innocent people on television
  • Become utterly HORRIFIED as you see (and hear) an unreal "wave" of rain fall onto the lawn
  • Run out screaming with your keys to put the top up
  • Immerse yourself in the cold wet leather and plea with the key opening to accept your key and turn the ignition
  • Begin to raise the top as more water rushes into the interior
  • Run back into the house and grab as many towels as possible, large and extra absorbent should do the trick
  • Run back out to the car, as you know that with every half-second, water is finding it's way into those perforated holes in your leather seats
  • Begin by throwing the towels in every direction possible so they absorb as much water as possible
  • Slowly become relieved as you find your digital camera has been saved by your laying leather jacket
  • Finish up by activating the heater and walking away as gorgeous "heaven-like" skies welcome you back into the world
  • Partake in the laughing festival your father (or guest) is having

If you follow these directions, you too will be an owner of a very clean interior for your S2000.

Over two years of owning this superb automobile and this is the first time anything like this has happened. My baby is now recovering in the garage.

It could have been so much worse, just thought I'd share.

Mine is no longer a rain virgin either. But you know, they build the interior of convertibles in a way that makes them a little water resistant. Okay, maybe not.

A few years ago, I parked another roadster at a golf course and left the top town. It was a gorgeous day, and there wasn't a cloud in sight -- until a thunderstorm came up when we were on the 13th hole.

We made our way back to the clubhouse soaking wet and waited the storm out in the bar. I forgot all about the car until we walked back to the parking lot after it stopped raining.

After that, I stopped worrying about a little water getting inside the car (:-)

Raul, I would suggest cracking your top halfway open/back overnight. Don't allow everything to be sealed up...uggggh...moisture in an interior.

Funny, you and I were talking on the cells last summer when the same thing happened to me while I was in a grocery store. The bottom absolutely fell out of the sky that day!

Hahaha....great story. I dig this line. For some reason, I have a vivid visual of what this might look like! We've been getting tons of rain the past month here in the Bay.
