Default Higher mileage, track worthy still?

Some of you may know that I recently purchased my first S2000, and I love it:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/introduc...s2000-1189073/

I am thinking about tracking it. Nothing crazy and maybe at most, once a month. I believe the car has had a good history, certainly mechanically spotless and it's why I purchased it. But, it is rather higher mileage at 137,000miles. I'm relatively new to S2000's, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, haha

I'd like your opinions and experiences, especially for those with a higher mileage car like mine. Do/did you continue to track your car 100k-150k+ miles?

I want to make sure it doesn't go boom!

one word- maintenance.

use the highest quality fluids possible (top shelf amsoil for eg.), get an alignment, valve adjustment and check the retainers. be aware that Honda used 4 hole oil banjo bolts mid 2002 (2 hole used prior), and heavily tracked s2000's would benefit from them.

on track, shift deliberately and don't over rev on a misplaced upshift that becomes a down shift by accident. Watch the red mist and know your limits.

Do it. There's no reason not to if you want to get into it.....what I'm saying is don't let your engine's mileage dictate what you can/want to do. F20C/F22C engines are cheap anyway.

do it. I'm currently at 265k miles on mine, and has seen 10 track days on it. started taking it to the track at 192k miles. But as someone mentioned, MAINTENANCE. That is key. my s2000 is in really great shape. Did valve adjustment at 190k miles, spark plugs, all new valve cover gaskets, Inlinepro TCT, Megan motor mounts, megan diff mounts.
I'm very proud that at 265k miles, my S2000 doesnt leak a drop of oil from anywhere, whereas I bought a second s2000 recently to build a dedicated track car, and it has leaks with only half the mileage.

Do not get hung up on using Amsoil. Good oil, but the most money they put into it are the snake oil salesmen they hire to spread crap rumors about how other oils failed. Even Blackstone labs says most of them run good old conventional oil after seeing all the test results they see. Any good oil in the right viscosity, changed at proper intervals, will do just fine for you. There is more crap than truth out there about oil. I run M1 in mine and all my others cars. Good oil at a good price. Have run RP, Amsoil, etc over the years in 5 different cars with zero difference in oil burning and of course no ill effects on the car. Plain old "dino" oil will do just fine too, you just change it more often.

I have had great success with Pennzoil Platinum in my Mazdaspeed 3. Agree with regular and consistent fluid change.
