Well, your S may not burn oil, but in general, I think you'll agree that AP1s do burn oil, and I can't think of anything that really happens in VTEC that would cause a smell.

Fwiw, I've smelled oil in AP1s and AP2s after VTEC driving, so its normal to me at least.

To the OP - do you get the smell if you just drive at 8500 rpm? Fwiw, what is your oil level?
Yea, we've seen plenty of reports of AP1's burning oil, but I'm not sure that it's a majority. LOL, nobody reports, "My car doesn't burn oil," because we tend to take that for granted.

But yes, lots of AP1's do burn quite a bit of oil.

When I use Mobil 1 I burn lots of oil. Switching away from that the next time I change my oil! I used Motul once and that hardly burned any.

OP not normal at all. I have bounced it off the rev limiter a few times and never smelled anything at all.

Well I should say that I always smell something. I have a test pipe so my car always smells like fuel etc. But I never smelled anything different when bouncing of the rev limiter.

LOL - thanks for the responses guys.

A few notes, its only when I hit the red limiter hard, two bounces off it, usually by accident.

My S2000 does use a lot of oil in general, but the oil level is always kept at a good level. I actually keep a small 500ml container in the boot to be safe.

And no - VTEC doesn't scare me I try and stay in VTEC to scare my passanger

LOL, to eleminate the smell, get a Modifry Redline Shift Beeper. That'll keep you from forgetting to shift before hitting the limiter, eleminating the smell in the process.

When I launch hard, sometimes I could swear that I smell rubber burning.

Going to try again today - this time without wheel spin... I don't think it was rubber
