Good luck!

I had a warranty issue and went between the dealership, honda care, and honda customer support. None of them gave a rats ass about keeping a customer happy.

Again, I wish you luck, but dont be surprised if you end up getting screwed. One thing i've learned is that certified used isn't worth the paper it is printed on. I will never buy another one.

If you bought the car used, even Honda certified used, there's no way of knowing whether the prior owner overreved or not. By the sounds of things, he did.

An overrev doesn't always show signs of damage right away. The motor can seem fine for days/weeks/months/years afterwards, then all of a sudden BAM!! - the motor goes.

I think you're screwed.

how the hell does that work?! He buys a CERTIFIED vehicle that HONDA is supposed to check out, not to mention that it's back by a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, so if the previous owner over-reved it, then its not the current owner's fault.

Wow, I must say, I'm really surprised at some of the posts on this thread - I have yet to buy an S2k, but have been actually been passing up many fine vehicles so that I could specifically find one that was "certified"! (due to the nature of the S2k, I wanted to make sure that I'd be covered in case of any abuse by a previous owner, especially in two regards - diff and engine).

I was under the impression that Honda would stand by its warranty. Apparently in OP's case, its not so. I wish the OP the very best of luck, since a new engine for an S2K can't be cheap.

well I got the vehicle at 53,000 and now it has 70,000 which isnt that much....but still.....thats exactly hwo it happened...._BAM!.....

I dont know the past history and Im taking HONDA's benefit of the doubt that there was nothing wrong with it. But how could they if they dont know the internals of it.

Im still waiting for the conclusion.....pray for me...

Good luck buddy. I hope I never have to go through what you are going through right now. Unfortunantly, this is not the first warranty story I have heard.

I worked for a Honda Dealership in San Jose. When my CEL light came on, they said I had a misfire on Cyl 1. They said they need to take the head off and send it to the machine shop. Said it might cost up to $2000.

I took it to my mechanic, he said all you have to do is replace the coil, we did that and the car is fine. I fixed it with $106.

**** the dealer

Try a Google search for a more detailed explanation.
Normally, the engine drives the drive wheels (rear in our case). However, if selecting too low a gear at too high an rpm, the drive wheels drive the engine, which can then go far beyond the recommended redline.

Are you really that naive?

There's no way in hell Honda's going to pull the head to check for damage before they CERTIFY a used vehicle.
