That's very similar to the Swat hood pins I was going to start searching for.
They're very similar. Hmm.. May try the Mr. Gasket first as they are probably easier to get here. I'm trying to find some hood pins, that don't break up the look of the car.
I have a set that look like these. They are Spectre's. I never took them out of the package, so if you want them I will sell them to you really cheap. Pm me if you want them.
w1ngman,
I have NEVER installed hood pins, so any advice or directions you can supply would be appreciated. Pics could also help. Nobody has told me the diameter of the pins that will fit in the pre drilled holes of the car.
Install the bolts in the brace under the hood first.....then mark the top of the bolts with paint or whatever will leave a mark. Close the hood on top of the bolts gently and it will leave a mark for you to use as a template to drill.
Yup...what SIIK2NR said would have been my main contribution. Only additional thing to suggest is that (and you're just going to have to visualize this...because it isn't the easiest thing to type out / explain) you need to be careful how you direct your drill bit when you drill your holes. In my opinion (experience with the first hole I'd drilled), I wanted to orient the drill bit perpendicular to the underside of the hood. However, consider how the hood slopes down the nose of the S2000... The hood is not horizontal to the ground (or to the radiator frame where the pin bolts *are* perpendicular to the radiator frame). So after you drill the through the hood frame from SIIK2NR' marked points of entry, and continue drilling in towards the actual hood skin, you have to adjust the angle of your drill as though your drilling a little further back -- about 1/2 inch or so. The idea is you need to have the entire drilled effort in the hood angled back a bit so that when the hood rests in its sloped way once closed, the hood pins mate into your drilled holes properly. Make sense?
