Default Horrible Dealership Experience

Just got my front brake pads swapped out and the rotors resurfaced today. When the mechanic took my car out to test it, I had just stepped out to see if my car was ready. All of a sudden I hear an s2000 revving and hitting vtec...... and it was MINE!!!! Since when do you need to vtec a car to check the brakes?? I talked to my service associate who was very understanding (and very attractive ) and she said she would have a word with the mechanic. Since it was past 6pm the service manager wasnt there but he will be giving me a call tomorrow morning at my request. Is there anything I can do about it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

You might be able to complain enough to get the next major service free

This is why I only take my car to the dealer as a last resort. DropThaTop mentioned it to the dealer, THEY should be falling all over themselves to beg his forgiveness and be trying to make things right, he shouldn't have to complain more.....

DropThaTop, what dealer was it? This is one of the reasons why we should have a forum or permanent note here on s2ki.com devoted to dealer experiences so others can avoid the bad ones or flock to the good ones.

I am not sure I understand what happened to make a comment. Did the Tech pull a hole shot? Side step the clutch? Did you talk to the Tech to see why he did what ever he did? Did he think there was something wrong with the way the car was running? Or did you think he was just out beating on your car for no reason? Just asking some questions dont get all bent out of shape thinking I am defending his actions.

Good advice, but, if the DropThaTop's suspicion is confirmed, I think I'd tell the owner of the dealership, "I will have to consider this experience the next time I purchase an automobile." That is honest. That puts the job for supervising the employees' behavior right where it belongs.

If someone in my employment in my pediatric medical office abuses a parent's or patient's rights, you had better believe I want to know about it.

That is totally uncalled for!
Accidents happen even to good dealerships but that is no accident and I can think of no good reason that the mechanic Vtec'd your engine.
Each dealership relies heavily on the grade it's customers give it through the surveys that American Honda asks it's customers and if you are not satisfied with the service managers response you can wait for the survey or you can call American Honda your self - I would think that any reputable dealer will offer you something even if it is just an oil change! or maybe a public stoning of that asshole that calls himself a mechanic!
Good Luck

There is no doubt that I would be pissed. The dealership that I used to go to did stupid things like that all the time. I saw this idiot revving the crap out of my car while talking to a customer one day. Then to further insult me he asked me if my dad bought the car for me. I should have hit him. Mechanics have no right to take a car out for a joy ride. That is unprofessional and makes you think twice about his skill as a mechanic. NOW I AM GETTING PISSED....ok I will calm down. The sad thing is, that if anything every happens to your engine they will have the nerve to tell you that YOU abused the engine.....good luck!
