SanMarinoCpe, I would call that a joy ride. You don't have to VTEC to test brake pads. I usually drive my car with a mechanic to diagnose a problem. No excuses should be made, mechanics shouldn't drive your car like it theirs/stolen.

Rdriver, I am not disagreeing with you but this posts beginning does not have all the facts. Your assuming this was a joy ride without all the facts. I agree you do not need to VTEC a car to test brake pads but how do you know that is all he was testing? and even if he was just getting on it to get it up to speed to test the brakes what is so crucial about not VTEC'ing the motor? Is there a certain number of times a S2000 motor can be VTEC'ed before you run out? I don't like to assume anything in this situation until I have all the facts because this is a serious situation if proven to be a joy ride. If it is a union shop that is grounds for immediate dismissal

If you're not a lawyer, SanMarino, you oughta be!

Seriously, though, if this happened to me, I'd be pretty upset too. I'd definitely bring it to the Service Manager's attention and demand an explanation. And if that explanation was a BS effort to placate me, I'd feel justified in playing the irate customer and try to extort some free shwag out of the dealer.

And whatever happens to the joy-riding tech after that ( ) isn't my concern because free stuff or not, I'd insist that that tech never touch my car again.

Please don't get me wrong I would be as pissed as anyone if I found out my car that was entrusted to a dealer was abused by the servicing Tech. Until more info is posted though I can not come to that conclusion. But I see everyone reaction to this is to the negative side without hearing all the facts and that is bothersome.

Not a Lawyer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express!

SanMarinoCpe, I understand what you are saying. However I have received the line that I abuse my car on a warranty issue. If I can't abuse my car why should the dealership mechanic get to? Putting wear on a car should be done by the owner.

I wouldn't try to get any one in trouble or fired, I just wouldn't return to that dealership for service.

The same dealership that pissed me off did several things to turn my business away. Rude sales people, sloppy work...grease on my dash, left a ratchet in my engine bay....

We are talking about a MAJOR dealership.

Rdriver, I don't blame you for changing dealerships. I have stated that many times on here for similar reasons. Not ALL dealerships are the same and people think just because it says Honda on that building that they can expect that kind of service at every dealer and that simply is not the case. Having worked at this dealership I see that first hand. Some of the posts on here I can not believe that they actually happen in a dealership.

...Holiday Inn Express...

Not everyone jumps to conclusions. Initially I'd be pissed too, but I'd wait for an explanation before really flying off the handle.
