Horrible Dealership Experience
I hate bad-mouthing shops... but Rosenthal Honda in Tysons Corner, VA has screwed me really bad. Not only did they drive my car wrecklessly (which was the original purpose of this post); but after going to Evolution a couple days back, I was informed that Honda overtorqued the lugs on my wheels with an airgun. This was after I specifically asked them if they would do it by hand and they said "no problem". Long story short, they denied ever using an airgun (even after Currys Auto Service, a professional shop that Evolution recommended, told me there were airgun marks on the wheel lock keys) and Honda blamed the tight lugs on the weather because of "heat expansion". Since its been a week since Honda dealt with the car and the weather has been consistently cold, I seriously doubt that. Anyways, I only spoke to the SM at Rosenthal on the phone because I don't have time to go there in person this week. After his rude attitude I really do not want to deal with them anymore. In the end I had to have many wheel locks broken off and had to have one stud replaced. Total damages came out to $300 and one of my wheels is now chipped from the labor...... and as many of you know, 18 inch wheels on an s2000 are not cheap. Right now I'm confused and furious at the customer service I received from Rosenthal, but I do intend to inform them and the Honda Corporation of this nonsense. Many thanks to Evolution, Pohanka Acura (who broke off all the broken wheel locks and replaced the stud), and Currys Auto Service for their professional opinion and service. *sigh* Long horrible day.
Maybe we should send them a form letter to let them know how many s2000 owners have read your thread and agree on their crappy service. Another copy should be sent to AHM. I'm sure that this would get their attention. Also get a letter from the other company that claims the airgun marks and include it.
There's no excuse for a tech to do that. If there is a need to rev the car beyond normal driving conditions 3000-4000rpm, I should be contacted. I personally wouldn't settle for $100 service discount. I would ask for a full refund on the cost of servicing the car and never go back there again.
Edit: I would contact a consumer advocate at a local news station. I always keep that info ready should a dealership ever screw me over. As soon as that airs on television, that dealership is going to see a reduction in customers.
