Default How do I accelerate faster?

So what really bugs me lately is how slow I accelerate compared to other cars with automatic transmission. I'm not sure why I'm so slow compared to them. How do i accelerate faster? When do I shift? Should I shift gears faster? Should I give it more gas? How long should i stay in 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc?

Where do you feel like you are holding yourself back?

Takeoffs?
It's all about timing engaging the clutch at the sweet spot on regular takeoffs will go a long way. You will know it when you do it. It will feel effortless.

Also, you could probably adjust the throttle cable on a non DBW and feel a noticeable difference in pedal response.

The gas pedal won't break if you push it too hard, trust me.

Oh, and switch gears faster.

Edit: anyone thinking it's the flux capacitor?

Thank you for making a relevant response without the unnecessary sarcasm. I will try finding the sweet spot, and shifting faster. I just didn't know what would be more faster, maxing out the rpms for each gear or shifting faster.

You can rev to redline, you're not gonna hurt the car as long as you check the oil regularly (every fill up) and change it often. This car makes it's power in the high end of the revs. Shifting faster is good, but can hurt the transmission in the long run. Launching it helps but you look like an ass when you spin your tires leaving a stoplight, not to mention the clutch and diff are gonna get a beating. Honestly, if launching it, revving it to redline, and shifting aggressively aren't enough, buy something faster in a straight line or go forced induction. I wouldn't recommend constantly launching hard or shifting fast every time you get the chance... This car isn't a quarter mile beast.

Probably a disgruntled Miata / FR-S / BRZ owner coming here to troll.

To go faster, buy a real sportscar.
