You are still confusing rev matching and double clutching.
As far as your other posts about confusing people and engine wear, I'm not invoking a discussion about cold engines. We're talking about mechanical components and engine wear. While there's no need to discuss engine wear, the real wear when you don't double clutch is transmission wear, specifically your synchros. Have you ever noticed in some cars that have higher mileage, you sometimes get a gear grind when you shift gears. That's caused by worn synchros. The key issue is that by getting the tranny up to speed, you save the synchros. A simple way to see this is when you're on the freeway in 6th and you want to downshift to accelerate quickly. You can just shift into 4th (with rev matching) and go, or double clutch (also with rev matching) and you'll notice the shift is much smoother (the gear lever goes into gear more easily). You're asking less of the synchros, and hence less wear. And the synchros do wear quickly. I've experienced 20K mile cars that were improperly shifted that started to show wear on their synchros.
Lastly, I'm curious what you thought was bullshit and misleading on this post that you wouldn't want spreading through this forum? It seems you are the arbitrator of all that is truth on this forum? It seems you are the only non-ignorant one here. Everyone else seems to be ignorant and not have a clue. Please enlighten us.

RED MX5's term is over in November, but it is a widely held belief that he will be re-elected this fall and carry the torch for 2 more years.
Although no representative is ever perfectly all things to all people, I think RED MX5 had done wonderful things in his term, particularly considering the challenging times we face. It can be a thankless job more often than not.

holy crap, this thread is hilarious. I posted on page 2, didnt check over the weekend, and it turned into an orgy of misinformation... with RED MX5 desperately trying to keep people from swallowing this garbage.
there are alot more people who are clueless than i would have thought. ill make a redundant attempt to clarify using number (numbers make everything easier)
1) downshifting /= rev matching
2) when slowing down (coasting in gear)... aka what u do when you rev match... your car is not slowing solely because your pistons are eating away at your cylinder wall... there is such things as viscosity in the oil, engine inefficiences, etc... that slow your car down.
3) by the theory that downshifting causes engine wear... yea, but its minimal. if your worried about this, then you should never see vtec, or even rev about 3k for that matter.
4) for those who say 'down shifting causes clutch wear'. yes, thats why you rev match. It is 100% possible to down shift via revmatch with 0 clutch wear. I you do it perfect, its 2 plates perfectly motionless RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER, coming together.
OK at this point im bored, i could clarify more... but i just lost interest lol. Im free from work in a few min anyways.

this thread was pretty funny. kind of a case study in humanity - you have intelligent people posting, and oblivious people posting who totally ignore the realities around them and simply believe what they want to believe.
REDMX5's post on this forum are universally the most intelligent, well worded, and well supported... and yet instead of listening to this gold mine, everyone continues ignoring him or actively arguing with him.. sad.
I revmatch because i've never had a manual car before my S and i want to get good enough with shifting that i feel comfortable on a track of auto x course. as Redmx5 said already, in slightly longer terms, practice makes perfect, and its practice that teaches you exactly where to blip the gas before downshifting in order to do it smoothly without slipping the clutch. my upshifts are actually much worse than my downshifts now that i've spent a lot of time practicing rev matching...
