My new Uniden GPSRD GPS/Radar Detector tells me top speed and average speed via GPS: http://www.uniden.com/gpsrd/ The nice thing with this unit is that you can concentrate on the road while cruising at high speed, rather than looking at your speedometer. It really has some cool GPS features, but remember, I'm a guy who has never used a GPS system before.

I haven't tried any high speed bursts since I got this unit for xmas, nor have I been zapped by radar.

My top speed? Around 120. My top speed as an immature youth? 140 in my Taurus SHO.

Remember, the S2000 may be capable of 150+, but no public road is. At 65 MPH the S2K bounces around on most of the highways as it is.

No slope needed, just find a road that is a few miles long, has a field on either side, and is new concrete and very wide...like the one I use . Beware tho', 140 comes in a hurry...150 will try your patients, and 160 is borderline insanity...it takes FOREVER to get there.

Shark:

RT could well be right about the spacers!! Either that or you're driving on some very poor roads.

Seriously this is totally at odds with my experience. At speeds far in excess of 65 mph, I find the S2000 the most firmly planted car I've ever driven. There's something not right somewhere I suspect. It might be worth getting your tracking settings checked out.

Uh, I voted for 170+ by mistake because I realized too late that the poll was meant for the S2000 only.
Take one vote from the 170+ and add it to the 141-150 category.
I actually didn't go faster than 242kph because I didn't feel too comfortable with all the wind noise and the Autobahn wasn't particularly empty that day either.
The highest speed I ever reached sitting behind a steering wheel was in a 993TT going well over 300kph on a completely empty sunday morning Autobahn.
Doesn't feel too fast at all if everything is empty.
