I have owned 3 S2K. Presently a 2007 base. I am unable to get my fingers down to snap the boot securely in place when I try to install the boot to cover the soft top.

Any secrets or solutions the make this successful would be appreciated

You are speaking of the black tonneau cover for the folded top, yes? I always thought the boot was trunk in British land.

I use it all the time. I leave it on for many weeks/months depending on whether I am going for a road trip. I leave it at home when I need the trunk for luggage.

Put the thing in the sun to warm it up. It makes it much more pliable. Usually installing goes pretty easily but the trick for removal is hit or miss. I use plastic auto trim tools (Harbor Freight) to get in there tight and pull on the round pull tabs. Again, it helps when it is warm from the sun.

I store it using the inner soft strap thing to support it. That was there is no crease or distortion of the thing that might interfere with installation.

Make sure your top is folding properly. If it is not folded all the way down you will have the trouble you describe. Check your elastic straps to make sure they are not loose -- they should have tension to pull the metal bar back into the correct position when folded down. Its kind of hard to describe.

The elastic straps on my Robbins replacement top are no longer elastic so I must push the metal bar backwards when I open my top so it will fold properly. Once it is down I can place the tonneau cover and reach underneath to get to the pins to install/uninstall.

Roadster Solutions has a cover that’s easy fits over the top when it’s folded down. Super easy to use, I’ve had one for the last six years. Looks great and folds up easily for storage in the trunk.
