I know Vtec hits pretty hard in my 07. I guess that means its making poo poo power outside of that? Whats the best/easiest way to solve this?
With an 07, probably a hondata reflash. That'd be the simplest way.

As previously mentioned, the more VTEC "kicks", the less power you're making.

Does your friend happen to have an intake or exhaust or any modifications that affects the breathing of the engine that you don't have? An intake for example can make the vtec cross-over sound a lot more aggressive or give the false impression that you're making more power. Same thing with an exhaust. I've seen a lot of folks mistake volume for power.

Hope this helps.

P.S. if VTEC hits you. Hit back.
i have recently installed a exhaust on my car with a drop in K&N filter. his was fully stock, i talked to him he also didn't have options that i have such as ABS, traction control. im new to hondas and don't mean to sound like a complete noob, but Ayy thats how you learn

anybody able to point me to some decent threads on VAFCs for AP2s?

More want to know how they work and such
I can give you the abbreviated info. VAFCII sucks donkey balls. I had one. It's terrible. It made power at WOT but the stock ECU is too smart for it at partial throttle loads.

I can sell you mine with tune if you really want it though.

thats ok

I just read the Hondata site and it seems like going w/ their reflash will be the best option when I'm ready
