How luxurious do you think the s2000 is?
I have to agree with Trinis and roundly disagree with the blather.
The s2k is a roadster that is also a sports car. Not all roadsters are sports cars and most sports cars aren't roadsters.
A GT by farkin definition is a touring car. There are many, many fine GTs. Most mercedes convertibles are in fact GTs. A touring car does not emphasize sport, it emphasizes comfort and performance.
A sports car minimizes (and there is the point of contention) everything that is not performance oriented.
Shame on that troller who called the AP1 a sports car and not the AP2. You know absolutely nothing.

At least we can all agree (I hope) that the s2k (AP1 and AP2) is a sports car. But I have to question exclusion of all cars with fixed metal roofs from the definition "sports car." If so, what do we call cars like the McLaren? Lacks the features of a lux car and the comfort of a GT, and is certainly not a "Mommy car with a top end close to 200 mph. Hard and fast definitions are difficult, aren't they?
it's nicer than a boxster. slick wheel, titanium shift knob, nice leather, top goes down in a little over 6 seconds, aerodynamic dash, digital read-out, i feel pretty luxurious getting in and smelling the leather. i don't need GPS, DVD screens popping up behind the seats for no one to see.....it's car imo that begs for real interaction, not dissociation. i can park myself, turn on the wipers myself, and stay on top of things. that's the fun. i had 2 bmw 320i's and a 2002tii, and this S hads more than all of them. people still look at it driving on the street, even 5 years old. when parked with the top down, i see people stopping to look in the inerior. whatever the car is, she is a beauty on so may levels to me, there are so many different roles you can play with it. it seems to play well with others, and i love to see it peeking it out from behind other parked behemoths winking an eye at me. yeah, i'd probably sleep with her if i could......
my brother restores MGB's, that is a sports car, the s is a roadster, sleek and forward thinking. i see the lexus beetle-looking cars withn the tops down and it looks wierd.
always thought convertibles were for nice sunny days. when i was little my brother put the top down on the black MGB at night in the fog and it changed my life, that convertible is sweet, the angle of the scrreen allows real knowledge you are open, instead of going over your head and you don't even know the tops down,,,lt's still the best 10 mins. of my day.
