Thus; an S2000, to a WRX, to a VW, to a Viper, to a Porsche, to a on and on and on and on and on, can be a "drag demon"....all it just depends on how deap your pokets are and are you willing to spend money. Even a Z28 to make it a "drag demon you have to spend cash, cause everybody and their moms can make one 11 seconds but making one 9 or 8...CASH baby
My point being a old bug is not a drag car at stock..but mess around with it and it can be, just like an S2000 is not a drag car...but somebody will make a monster out of one. Its not about the money..its about saying what you did and what you did it with.
if it has wheels...it can drag
I didn't mean to imply those who drag race their cars are not "grown up" literally (sorry if my remark was offensive to some people). I only meant to say that going from drag racing to track racing was a trasition, IMHO, to a higher form of competition. Hence, the quotation marks. However, I have no respect for those who drag race on the streets and I can truely say these folks are not "grown up" quite literally
.
I happend to believe that drag racing IS a sport. It takes certain skills, like steady foot and a good sense of knowing when your tires are gripping etc. I just think it's not AS MUCH of sport as the track racing. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Have I been known to do such things in my life? Sure, but that doesn't make them any less stupid.
revhi, I'm a little disappointed by the responses you're getting as well. Perhaps you would be better off closing this thread (as it seems pretty useless to you) and starting a new one in Under the Hood - where people can offer useful advice instead of moral lectures and 'sell your car' suggestions.
You may also feel free to PM me about your overall goals for the car and basic steps you should consider to get there.

UL, I think he would have received the same thoughts in that forum just as sure as he did in this one. Afterall, the same people visit there as do here. Some folks will embrace his efforts and others won't. Personally, I find your choice of the word "lecture" a bit condescending, as I took those responses that were "anti-drag" simply as being from owners who are reflecting the spirit of the S2000's reason for existence. If in the process of discovering the many joys of S2000 ownership, REVHI realizes many of these guys were spot on with their words, then their opinions wouldn't have been wasted. If he decides that running down a dragstrip is still more fun than carving canyons, god's speed be with him. It's nearly impossible to ask such a question and not get a varied amount of responses, especially considering the average makeup of an S2000 owner, who dare I say, is not really interested in owning a point A to point B automobile. On another note, I'm wondering how much money he intends to spend on go-fast parts before deciding on a weekend high performance driving school? But I don't want to be labeled as lecturing by suggesting it so I'll just leave it alone.
Whatever direction Rev wants to take, let's hope he succeeds and enjoys the trip.
