how many people here are in high school
**** man, how the hell do all these high school kids pay for these cars? When I was in high school, I walked everywhere. I worked part-time and finally saved enough to buy a 97 Prelude in cash in freshman year of college. Then another one in junior year of college. I work my ass off and still had to pay for insurance and other bills. I just turn 22 a month ago with 2 quarters away from graduation and now finally have enough to buy an AP1 in full + pay for other bills.
It just seems like more parents these days are spoiling their kids. If I have a kid, at most I'll give them is an old beater car like a corolla or something thats cheap as hell ($1000-2000) If they want a better car they better work their ass off and earn it themselves + pay for their own damn insurance because as we all know new driver + sport convertible = high rates.
Anyways I just had to vent....I guess I'm just jealous because I was not as privilege as some of these kids who got help from their parents. If you're in high school and you paid the car off yourself then I do give much respect to you. Anyways I hope they at least take care of their car and not wreck it because its just sad to see a wrecked S2K...

I didn't even have a car till I was in college. Now, I have my S and a truck, so it's all good. I'm sure lots of people around campus think my parents bought me the car...if only they knew that I worked my butt off to be able to get to where I can afford it.
I had a '94 Accord in high school and right now I'm a third year in college driving an '05 Accord. I wish I had an S though but I can't really afford one right now.
No worries mcentral, I feel the same way you do. Even I don't feel that I deserve my '05 Accord and I know that I wouldn't appreciate an S2k if I didn't work my ass off for it.

An S2000 in high school is just crazy to me. I wouldn't put a child of mine behind the wheel of an S2000 w/ no driving experience. Beyond that, I think they should have to earn things like a nice car. And getting good grades doesn't count.
Nothing against the kids who have one, but I think that parents who can afford it should give their kids transportation when they get their license, but not a sports car.
Oh well, maybe I'm bitter because I had to get thru college, get a job, and pay for the S on my own.

I don't understand why people get so mad when kid's parents buy them cars, insurance, gas, etc. in high school. If a high school kid has to work for it all the time for what they want, then they will end up having no time to study-->worse college-->most likely not the best job..
Maybe its just me cause I only had to pay for mods on my S through high school.
