Moneeb, I'm thinking a couple of things:

1. It's winter, less buying Ss during this time of year. Not sure if that lull normally impacts you guys in LALA land, but it sure does in the northeast.

2. Maybe the market is slightly drying up after 3 years of production (and no advertising in the US).

Don't kick yourself! Sorry you sold your car.

... all adding up to the point that perhaps supply has outstripped demand, and not that Honda has ramped up production. I do not recall any wildly high VIN numbers from year-end '02 purchasers, so I think this theory is on-track.

Oh, I'll add #5 as well:

5. There is increased competition in the mind of potential S buyers. This "mindshare" issues is not being helped at all by the fact that the trade rags that are currently ignoring the existence of the S. Note: I don't necessarily agree that cars like the 350Z or more and more powerful German coupes are direct competition, but I could imagine they siphon off some sales by buyers who are on the fence.

Agreeing with the two or so above points... The s2000 isn't the "newest & hottest" thing out. It's 3+ years old and people are very competitive, wanting the newest and the best... that's one reason why people lease cars for only 3 years. Sure, who wouldn't want a new car every 3 years (if you can afford it or write it off).

I think you're right, Tep!

I think I buck that trend for some inexplicable reason. I find I'm very loyal to the cars I love. I'll admit to some occasional new car envy, but only when it's something really special -- like when the S came out, or when I see pix of the new Enzo .

I can dream, can't I?
