The way i patched mine was silicone and a small pliable rubberpatch =P and no more hole.. but you might want to find something that might hold better.

Personally, I think the material itself is fine. IMO, it's the design of the frame - and variances in the frame from car to car - that is responsible for the wear holes. I have no experience with the upper wear holes but have examined the lower ones with the help of an upholstery shop...
I meant to say the material is flawed in that it hasn't been reinforced in areas that will recieve wear and tear through contact with the frame. Perhaps a combination of a soft top with an inner lining and better frame design would prevent these kinds of wear holes.

But to get back on topic of this thread, I'm still interested to hear how often people lower and raise their top each day and what they'd consider to be excessive use.

My wearholes are way noticeable and I just don't know what to do about them...I've tried using silicone but I don't know how it will hold up. There's gotta be some way to stop the damage before it gets really bad...anyone who has a good suggestion please send me a PM. Thanks

can someone take a picture of where these wear holes are so that myself and other people can maybe put a patch on the top right now, to prevent a hole from forming.

i went to radio shack and picked up some black velcro strips, and went to home depot and got an adheasive/sealant called amazing goop (in a white tube). cut the velcro down to size, and glued it from the inside. its not really noticable since its black, and whatever is rubbing to cauesw the holes rubs on the velcro instead which is stronger since its material is made in layers and its thicker. has worked well for 2 years now.
