how to shift for best performance

I wouldn't feel too bad or ashamed or whatever about not hitting 9K yet. I'm a strong believer in a driver break-in period for this car, even if the engine is already broken in. Gives you a chance to get comfortable with everything (like you said) before trying to fast shift at 9K. A lot of these "Bad shift: I may have blown my engine" threads seem to be from relatively new owners.
[QUOTE=scguy,Oct 28 2004, 06:08 AM] So yesterday im sitting at a red light and this punk pulls up with his 99/00 eclipse GT (stock as far as I can tell). Now I know that I should be able to take him but he actually kept up with me through the first two gears. I started pulling away when the 3rd gear went into V-tech.
I know there are guys on here that post stuff like:
Kill list

shift after the fuel limiter has kicked in...here's how it works:
pop in the clutch real fast momentarily but keep in gear and keep pushing the gas..after maybe 2-3 seconds the rpm will continue to rise to almost 9,900 rpm...dont do this all the time because i heard many time (and its pretty obvious) that this is not good for the engine

sorry just looked it up...only applicable to 2000-2002 model years. the 2003 and up models have an engine limiter installed that prevents this

SMART ASS!!
